I don't know if you know this Tim, but unguided rockets can be used as pseudo flares. They wont deflect everything, especially in a tail chase, but my luck usually comes with headons with missiles. My loadout when I fly the F-1 in Air RB my loadout is 4 AIM-9Ps and 38 Mighty Mouse Unguided Rockets. It serves me pretty well with that mix, usually being able to get a few kills when I get max up tiered (edit: thanks @Evo3s for correcting my grammar mistake, changed sudo to pseduo)

As someone who really enjoys flying out the T-2, the F-1 is very punishing. With weak engines and no flares, if you mess up or someone decides they want you dead, you're dead. If you have to go full defensive and start turning.. you will bleed all speed and die very quickly. You have to position yourself and fly very carefully.

i cant believe i grinded out the entire F4EJ and F4EJKai in this thing, and did not know that it had pulse doppler radar. oh well not like i could get to use it now that i have the kai. also one thing you should add is the absurd repair cost the thing has. iirc 15k when spaded. its pretty stupid

Irl the F-1 had countermeasures and could carry 12, 500lbs bombs with 2 AIM-9Ps or 8 500lbs bombs with countermeasures and 2 AIM-9Ps but gaijin wouldn’t add it mostly bc of the lack of skill (most) top tier players lack due to fire and forget missiles

Should note that the F-1 didn't help too much with the F-2... the FX program did see initial developments by Japanese companies for indigenous designs, which did incorporate technological developments from the F-1 and other advancements in Japanese industry, however, the cost ballooned for the FX program domestically, and more importantly, Japanese politicians sought to a technology exchange with the US, and so General Dynamics was awarded to design the F-2 derived from the F-16, however, due to prior sales by Toshiba of dual-use technologies to the Soviet Union, the US made it so the F-2's technologies were black boxed, and so little in the way of a technology exchange functionally developed. The F-2's entire development and procurement has been considered an expensive loss for a lot of people in Japan, as it still remained incredibly expensive, while not actually providing the Japanese aviation industry the technology exchange they desired.

I just wish the F1 would get the radar lead indicator the T2 had back in the day. It would make the plane far more viable. While not useless in anyway, rn it simply is not equal to F104s and Mig 21s with 2-4 missiles and flares.

I think for its era the F-1 is probably one of the most appealing jets, though not appealing enough to convince me to grind the tree for it over getting ready for the Tomcat

The F1 is good in a downtier but can barely hold it's own at 10.3. With the lack of countermeasures that are necessary for any fighter at that BR, it struggles quite a lot. It still is missing some loadouts and it's only saving grace are the missiles and nose authority. No idea why the F-1 is at 10.3.

This would be an almost perfect plane in-game if it had countermeasures. Aside from that, the only issue I have with it is how it horribly locks up above mach. Nevertheless, I like it more than the T-2 since it actually has usable missiles(9E's are barely any different than 9B's in this game), a full ballistic computer, and more gun ammo. The T-2 was pure pain, but this plane is "okay."

Idk if its Gaijins programing,, but if you lock a target, theres a possibility you can launch an aim9P at frontal aspect in 1.25km,,, got quite alotta kills this way xD

About anti-ship missile. Well, due to the fact that Naval battle's BR is a mess right now (and the fact that it's harder to balance than ground or air due to ship's different characteristics), I don't think we will see the F-1 with ASM any time soon.

As someone who loves the T2, you wanna skip this one and head straight for the phantoms. You're gonna get dragged up into 11.0 or 11.3 nearly every game anyway with the F1 so might as well use a better plane. No flares at top tier are very punishing

F-40 sabre is pure suffering. Getting an average of 1 kill per game is already an amazing result T-2 is good and fun, basically is a starfighter that's actually good F-1 would be good if it had flares, RWR and didn't get uptiered so often. IMO it's a slightly worse 21SMT/MF The E J Kai is an F-4J with worse missiles but a slightly better gun

As someone currently grinding out the T-2 in the JASDF F-86-40, I gotta say it’s a good plane, but at it’s current br, you’re a subsonic jet facing all supersonic jets. It is satisfying to get kills in though, but I usually just target ground targets.

Way too many uptiers, you spend most of your games just surviving. Which means wasted time mostly ever since they removed rewards from dogfighting, getting 0 RP is pretty common. It was a decent plane but the current meta ruined it.

Thanks for info man. Lack of flares and chaff are pure bullšhit , I have no idea whay Gajzila is doing that for aircrafts that have them or can have them as modul , for fruk sake I have seen a flares on prop aircrafts as a mod , especialy now that every body have stingers in their basement 🤪😁😂🥖

I'll sum it up in fall of 2022 this thing is horrible. No flares mean you are an easy target for even Aim 9E missiles. Your manuverability is one of the worst. Just dont get it. just some examples. A-5C, SU-7 has better performance than you. The F104 is a better plane than this
