I believe I've watched about 40 of your videos. How you know how to do all this stuff is amazing, and the way you explain it all so clearly is remarkable

Do you think the “hallow” wall would be sturdy enough to put a 24” solid door on, if I shored it up the way you did the latch side of this door?
@askillthatpays5 ай бұрын
Yes because once you have a 2x4 in there to stabilize it, it will be sturdy enough. Thanks for watching.

how much did you charge for that job?
@askillthatpays4 ай бұрын
That was one of about 6 doors I worked on in that house, so I billed for the whole job. A job like that could take 4-6 hours. Thanks for watching.

What about the framing and stability of the interior wall? What if???????
@askillthatpaysАй бұрын
Great question. Whenever possible, I try to put the hinges on the non-pocket side, but that's not always possible. By ripping a 2x4 and securing it in there, it's fine. Interior doors are generally light and smaller than entry and actually rarely used, so as long as you make a good effort, they'll be fine. I've never had one fail. Thanks for watching.

WHY would you want to? I wish all interior doors were pocket doors. Now you see them/Now you don't. What could be better?

Everyone has their thing. In some places the pocket door is a great space saver. Other times they're annoying and difficult to lock. I've seen it all. Thanks for watching.

Allow me to explain my situation. Due to the bathroom being right next to the kitchen/dining area, we were able to afford the house after so many year's of it being on the market. These doors offer nothing but illusion. The channels are still in good shape but the legs on the wheels have difformed a bit. Yes I cab just replace those parts for less than$5 but the fact I can hear people outside while I'm in the restroom is just unsettling. I must rather have a real door that actually closes. The pockets even have a draft of air that comes in whenever it's windy.
