after a few weeks of work on the engine and its components it time to reassemble the rotating assembely and the valvetrain. follow along as i put this worn out engine back together for one last spin.

Your dedication [and determination] to making this engine run again is refreshing. Not many young men today would even try, let alone bother. I'm sure you are going to be surprised just how well it will run. Most of those old engines weren't very fussy and, because they ran at such low RPM , would last longer than they should have. Can't wait to hear it run.

Thank you, this is a task that i knew i signed up for and i mean to see it through. I really love to make things work again that shouldnt and this is one. I think and hope your right its a real low stress engine with heavy duty parts and great oiling. It will be a better outcome for this engine than to be melted down!

Use a little bit thicker oil like the old timers did. Couple of cans of STP......It'll be fine!!! Great to see it coming back together!!! JW

you use "plastiguage" to get the proper clearance on all your crank bearing clearances, use ten weight oil to put the pistons in, use a motor assembly grease [ lubriplate # 5], where is your ring compressor ? a brass tumbler with walnut media will clean the small parts. the crank could be built up and turned back to original spec.

The crankshaft is oval by .004 and tapered, the cyls are wore right out and the rings can be bumped in with a screwdriver. This is not a perfect rebuild this is making a junk engine run again. I know how to do things to the t is my job im showing you what can be done not what should be done. This is entertainment with a purpose. Saving junk and making it work again. But yes in a proper restoration i would do all that except i dont like plastiguage i prefer to measure and then check lift of the shaft at the ends to get minimum clearance for the whole shaft. This engine is put together with .005 on the mains and .007 on the rods because of the taper and egg🤷🏼♂️

Theres a hercules generator for sale in Oakland City, Indiana for 100 bucks on the ol' facespace marketplace. Listed as "old motor possibly generator" may be the completely wrong motor as all of the pictures are of it with its shrouds on. It says hercules across the front of the radiator though! Can't remember where you're located, but I thought about you and your little dozer when I saw it. Love the series and your style. Awesome stuff.

@@jmpsavescars I will! Definitely a long haul. It just popped up for me as I was scrolling here in Kentucky. I'm starting on an international very soon. 345 v8. Hunting down a 67-68 travelette to put it in. Talk about hens teeth. I can't help but love the oddball stuff. Keep that old iron rolling brother!

@@Joseph_Hartmann ohh nice thr travelette is such a cool truck. One of the the first double cabs id say! That gen set would go right in there well!
@Joseph_Hartmann3 ай бұрын
@@jmpsavescars yep! Best of my knowledge, International was the first production pickup with a crew cab on offer. I think they did it first in either 53 or 58, with a 3 door. My grandfather had a single cab 68. It's long gone now, wish I had that truck. 266 v8, 4 speed close ratio transmission. Ordered new, black with a white roof, fleetside, long bed, 2 wheel drive. Even though I don't have that truck, It's sparked a passion in me for those old binders, just from the stories about its feats of strength lol. I plan on doing some videos about the engine build and such so maybe it will help some people out on here. Not a huge amount of info out there on those old rigs. And even less video footage of the ins and outs. It'll be fun anyway! I'm excited to see your next video on the dozer! You have a good one my friend!

I was allways wishing my tonkas in the sandbox would run and i could shrink down in size to operate them. Ill call this a compromise. Thanks, if i can ever get the time ill have it going here shortly

It might surprise you on how long that engine will live.
@jmpsavescars3 ай бұрын
I hope it does. I mean it was running like this so now its clean with a lot less clearance and new valves. Thanks
