Remembering Mitzi Gaynor in what was perhaps without question and probably without a doubt, her all-time greatest achievement of all time....following an act like the Beatles was a hard act to follow....but she somehow pulled it off.....

Mitzi said the air conditioning on that stage in Miami was not working well and it was brutally hot under those lights. She is one of the all time greats in showbusiness.

Wow, I really like her clarity of voice and her positive energy. A pretty lady. I had heard of Mitzi, but I *had* only *seen* (used with a verb) her in the Western with Jeffrey Hunter, "The Young Texans" (good movie) Those horns sound so great, "Live Muscians that aren't Sound Engineered into a vacume". A delicious sound.

I've been watching all of Mitzi's performances on KZbin. There is another video of them doing Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho/When The Saints Go Marching in, obviously the same night, but there are slight differences in her movements and in one of them one of the guys drops his hat. Why were the two different performances taped? Both are great, just very small differences. Maybe one was live for the East Coast and the other was live for the West Coast? Even sweating like pigs MItzi and the guys give 110%.
@davidvanhouten55763 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too, just today. Different performances but both great. I noticed because her hair is styled differently. The guys are the best and so, of course, is Mitzi. Thank you Justin for this

Well, this boomer watched this only because the Beatles were on the same show. And Mitzi wasn't a boomer, nor was Ed Sullivan, so who are you mad at?
@akrenwinkle2 ай бұрын
@@chrisn7259 I'm going to go way out on a limb and guess that he didn't think Mitzi, who just died at 93, and Ed, who would be 123 now, were boomers. I don't think he was mad, either, just didn't like this act. I think it's a cringe, but enjoyed it.
@Volomino Жыл бұрын
I'm a big fan of hers but .... this stunk and did not show her off to her best advantage. She's a far better dancer than singer, so where was the dancing. She was off key on many notes and too strident on many others. She was magical in her "De-Lovely" number with Donald O'Connor in the 50'sfilm version of Anything Goes. For her first performance on the Sullivan, she should have killed it with something like. I think she was trying too hard to look "contemporary."
@wmbrown62 ай бұрын
No doubt in her mind that night, The Beatles were hard to top no matter how you sliced it . . . at least it wasn't the disaster that the prior week's show had been for another Mitzi (Ms. McCall with her partner Charlie Brill who were booked on The Beatles' debut Sullivan appearance).
