Hi TXG I have been wondering about grip styles: 10 finger, overlapping, interlocked and their effects. Since there is not a single video on youtube covering this, i wanted to ask you if you could get Mat to try this. Does a 10finger grip really give more power? Does the interlocked grip really improve dispersion?

I’d be very interested in this as a driving/utility iron. It appears the 4 is 21* std, by adjusting to say 18* w/40 or 40.5” length, what do you think. I currently game Muira 501’s, 3-PW. I carry a 17* Callaway hybrid but I struggle w/it; too many ballooned shots off tee in particular. I want a 230yd club off tee and occasionally on fairway that I can hit stinger. I should say I live in Rockies and in Lake Tahoe, both areas that can get strong afternoon breezes and my home courses are extremely heavily wooded and narrow. Am I trying too hard to stay in Muira family and just be better off getting a club from one of the big firms that’s designed and intended to be a “utility iron”? Is bending this club min 3* strong going to cause issues w/sole design and offset? If it helps, I’m 6’3”, 230 very fit and 57 yrs. Well above average length for my age but certainly less than you folks half my age 😉

Which miura iron compares with the Mizuno mp-20 MBs, and how would you describe that comparison?
@Melchior113 жыл бұрын
I’d say the Miura 101. It’s a blade. I’ve tried them and I own Mizuno MP20 mb. I would say they are very similar. They feel slightly different. In a way, the Miura 101 felt a bit more powerful. I thought I felt the club hitting the ball, more toward the face surface than kinda throughout the head if that makes any sense. It could be the head is slightly heavier, or maybe just a build thing with the demo head and shaft connector. The MP20, I always say has that true “butter” feel, where the ball really just seems to melt into the club. Don’t get me wrong, the Miura 101 is soft and has a butter feel, but I didn’t think it did to the same extent as the Mizuno. I may someday still own some Miura 101 because i might split the 201, or just go 201, but the Mizuno are really good and pretty similar IMO.
@jasonknight31283 жыл бұрын
@@Melchior11 great reply. I really appreciate it! I’m just about to do a fitting at my local club and have hit the MP20 before so I think that’s the way I want to go. 4-6 MP20 HMB 7-pw MB. Where I’m a bit torn is the shaft. I hit the Nippon n.s. Pro mudus 3 120 s really well but for the last year I’ve been developed tennis elbow that won’t go away so I’m considering going graphite for the iron shafts. I hope my fitter has both the recoil shaft that Mizuno offers for no extra charge and the MMT because I’ve heard amazing things about the MMT but need to figure out if the mmts are that much better than the recoils that are a no charge option. Have you hit either of those shafts?
@Melchior113 жыл бұрын
@@jasonknight3128 I’ve not tried either of those shafts, but am naturally curious and wouldn’t mind knowing what you think. I’ve played NS Pro, KBS $ Taper, and Oban CT 115 S. I’m a big fan of the Oban and just under that, the $ Taper. The NS Pro is generally accepted as a great shaft but the other two stood fairly well above in my opinion. I thought the other two offered a bit more tip stiffness than the NS Pro while still feeling very smooth. I wouldn’t sleep on the MP20 MMC. I play them in the 5 and 6. (4 is a hybrid currently). I’d suggest that they look a lot better in person than they do in pictures. I probably could have gone HMB but I don’t regret the decision at all. I do think 7 iron is probably the better place to transition than 6. The MMC and HMB do get more strongly lofted than the MB, so you might want to weaken them, or not. I honestly don’t remember if I weakened my MMC but definitely had the conversation with my fitter.
@chrischampion7273 жыл бұрын
TXG did a video not too long ago on blades and MP20 and the Miura blade were both part of the test. Check it out 👍
@jasonknight31283 жыл бұрын
@@Melchior11 yea I really hope my fitter has both options so I’ll let you know what my thoughts are between the two shafts. I hit the mmc when I tested the MP20 mbs. I’m not sure if it was just me but the mmcs compared to the mbs and the hmbs felt a little bit to face soft, like a marshmallow if that makes sense. Maybe it was a one off, I only it 5 balls. I do like the look of the mmc but I like the fact that the HMB look the same as the mb. We’ll see which way I go. Worst case I replace a couple clubs near the top of the set.

What is the advantages of playing a more "players iron" like Ians mura's over something that's a little more forgiving (kinda like speith plays) as long as you adjust the lofts accordingly?
@krusher743 жыл бұрын
from what they say (im not good enough to test) but more muscle back/player irons are easier to "work" which, so play fades and draw etc easier with more feel. where game improvements are more designed to be straight machines. It would be interesting to see them test that.
