I know it’s not transparent or even meant to be one. But I noticed the higher the ratio I have mines, the more color. So I keep the ratio very low, and compress lightly on my mixbus for dancehall, hip hop and jersey club. Then use the blend knob and it’s beautiful I love it so much. And now I combine it with my warm audio comp with the transformer off and punchy goodness indeed ❤🥊

I saw that you work both with the Heritage Audio Successor: and with the 609A does the 609A sound better? Better quality? Or are they similar?
@mixbustv Жыл бұрын
They're very similar, the 609 is basically a later model/version of the 2254 which is what the successor is. 609 has the limiter which has very limited use (pun intended). They're very similar beside one being dual mono, I prefer the successor for the side chain options and it's a tad more colored. If you don't need dual mono, I'd get the successor. I sold my 609

SSL and Warm Buss are VCA SSL style. As he says in the end, this is a different electrical component (diode-bridge) that handles the signal processing. So they will sound a little different but I'm sure it would still be a good comparison.

Hey David! Just got a Tegeler Crème after trying a Warm Audio Bus Comp, then Heritage Audio Successor. The Successor was great and I may decide on it unless I end up liking the Tegeler Crème better. At the moment I’d choose the Successor. I really like the power and feel it gives my mixes, but I’ve only just tried a couple of mixes on the Crème. Maybe it’s due to the Successor’s built in Parallel and other features... I’d really love to go all 500 Series, maybe a WesAudio NG500, or Serpent SB4001 or Elysian Xpressor. Then I can add an EQ later... Just need a 500 series Stereo Compressor that can match what the Successor does. Any suggestions very welcomed. Really appreciate your wisdom! Bless You.

@Geoffrey I’m in exactly the same doubt. Tegeler creme looks awesome but maybe you get more mileage out of two dedicated units... @harrynak224 жыл бұрын
Geoffrey Merrifield hi Geoffrey what made you choose the successor? Do you use a seperate eq with it? Crème looks good because it also has eq but if successor is a better compressor I’m not so sure about the creme. Would love to hear your reasons for choosing the successor

harrynak22 I decided to get the Successor and then 2 Klark Teknik EQP-KT’s for EQ. Thanks David! Another great review! I love your channel man! Did you try the TBAudio Pro AB_LM for loudness compensation? Its a really nice tool and working very efficiently for comparing the dry and wet signal. I dont know how it is on protools with hardware inserts but the most DAWs has an "Hardware Insert Plugin" and then you can put the TBAudio Pro AB_LM before and after that Insert plugin for a constant level match and a AB button. If you dont know this tool already then check this out! Its a big helper for comparing tools or whole FX chains. Its a lot easier to tweak the knobs without to match the output signal every time.

@iamcrisis1875 жыл бұрын
@@mixbustv Thanks for the quick reply brother. Great review by the way as well! I guess what I meant by "just as good" is would you recommend it for that style/genre of music, specifically Hip Hop (Boom Bap and Trap)? I used to have a hardware api 2500 and regrettably had to get rid of it during the time they were still $2.5k... Loved that thing but now they're around $3.1k and are out of my range at the moment so I'm looking for something that can sit on my 2 bus after my D-Box for not only that glue but a little analog girth/weight being the d-box is clean/transparent. SSL Bus comp is out of my range as well at the moment but the price of the Successor is very reasonable and makes it very tempting.
