So I got curious and went to Apple Music just to listen to this same song but mixed through his SSL console it was a huge difference 🤯😱 Width, dimension and realism. Way more punchier too. Felt like the mix was completely done. The mix he showed on the video sounds super great but just doesn’t feel like it’s finished to me. And NO that sound does not have to do with the Mastering. Mastering can’t give you that level of wow factor, only in the mix you can do that. Mastering can help but it all comes down to the mix. Beautiful work! 🔥
@SonicScoop Жыл бұрын
Mastering DEFINITELY has a bigger impact that what the mix is being summed through. I question about that. People also noticed the difference between the mix and the master on Mick Guzauski’s MixCon masterclass with Jamiroquai, which was totally in the box originally. So there the difference was once again mastering. That said, if there are any fader, EQ, or pan moves done on the console that we are not hearing here, that could have a significant effect. But I believe that should have been accounted or I the presentation. Unless we are missing fader, pan or EQ moves from the console, than the potential difference from mastering would be orders of magnitude more significant than the potential differences from summing alone. Hope that makes sense! -Justin

@@SonicScoop Justin thanks for that input. In my case I've never had good luck wlth mastering engineers, because for me they never have given me that polished finished sound that I usually hear in professionally produced songs. I had to hone in on my mixing skills over time to get that polished sound my ears were looking for. Lately I've been mastering my own mixes and clients have been approving my masters more then when actual mastering engineers master their songs. They usually end up doing more than what is needed because the mix already sounds great and my clients notice those differences, most don't approve. I send my mixes at mastering volume so clients won't be surprised when hearing their songs at higher volumes. Still on the search for that mastering engineer that my clients approve... That being said from my point of view I felt a big and pleasing difference from listening this song in Apple Music and on KZbin. Would love to see what he did on the SSL with this song. Was it just summing or did he mix a little on it. Also what the Mastering Engineer did to it. Thanks Justin 🙌🏼

@@JeanmarkRodriguezyoure doing something wrong than. Mastering is the sauce, makes a HUGE difference. Way more than any summing, not to mention a spotify loudness corrected, mastered mix is way different than a youtube stream

Not sure what this was supposed to reveal. All the real mixing was done before he started so that all that was left was the little fiddly stereo field and Equipm touch up work. I’m bummed. How did he get those tracks so slamming and how did he gain stage? Oh well
@maxuno85243 жыл бұрын
I often see engineers brag about how long their chains are. This mix is slamming and he does so little. Just shows that less is more.

@@ignatius3079 I did that a while ago and yes they are compatible with m1 but not the silica ones only the intel ones. They claim that using Rosetta 2 will solve the problem but it doesn’t. mixing music that has been recorded in an actual studio is so much easier and less work than stuff from "bedroom artists"
@afiefzaki62653 жыл бұрын
I believe he said he used the majority of the wet vocal stems that he got. The recording engineers and producers probably did the heavy lifting processing beforehand.. I think this is the final mix session, like after static mix, level and panning are done

This was recorded in a expensive asf studio I’m sure with eq and compression already done this video was a lil misleading because whoever tracked the vocal did most of the work with the vocal . Honestly there isn’t any videos on KZbin of a top engineer breaking down a “raw” vocal from scratch its dumb asf for engineers really trying to come up but it’s a good video never the less !

Yeah, but the mixes these guys receive were already done in top notch analog studios, with top notch analog gear, not a graphical display of a 1073 and 1176 on a computer. So, us at home will never get the same sound with our "plugin" collection no matter how hard we think we will.
