I feel like you've come so far. Don't be so hard on yourself. Your paintings are much better than you think. I loved your first abstract, it reminds me of the monsoons here in India. It's so soothing. I think you're very close to finding your style. I'm not sure what it is that stands out, but when I come across your paintings, I know that it's definitely done by you. I also really like the painting of the lady you didnt complete (the one with the texture) maybe you shouldn't give up on it.

Thank you so much for the kind words, and you are right the abstract does kind of give a monsoon vibe :D I also feel like I have kind of found my voice now, especially after having completed the 20 sources for the portfolio, they turned out so gorgeous, and I'm so excited to paint them and show them to all of you :)

Looking great Julie - love what you have shared - it will be nice to see the sources you have started making and your portfolio starting. All very interesting. That list of knowing when a painting is done sounds useful. I tend to finish when I feel I'm happy but I don't have anything specific. I think your first abstract looks great.

If you view yourself as a professional artist I think you put too much pressure on yourself. Don't be so worried if people like them or not. As the masses like crap paintings and do you really want to do these. As you can buy these in Walmart or in a market.
