Mixed Media Assemblage Book Cover 💗 🌟💗

When we allow ourselves to play with a wide array of colors, texture and form, we open our lives up to Creative Exploration. This is one of the aspects of Mixed Media work that thrills me!
Sharing that process with my friends is the most fun ever...so here we go!
This Mixed Media Assemblage Book Cover began life as two plain 8x10 inch canvas boards.
After layers and layers of texture, pigment and embellishments, the end result is a feast for the senses: tactile, luminous, vaguely mystical. None of these things was 'planned'... it emerged as the playful process flowed through me.
Whether or not this piece appeals to your aesthetic, you may find a few ideas about incorporating basic design principles into your work to bolster a theme, mood or bold message that you want to convey.
We discuss how 'opposites' can combine to create a rich and visually exciting finished piece, and along the way I share some basic techniques that can add cohesion and a sense of rhythm to Mixed Media Compositions.
I hope that this playful process is one that you indulge in! It is one of most powerful ways I know to dissipate stress and gain confidence. 😘

Uh oh! That's frustrating....Some papers are just more fragile than others, Asia. One trick you can try is to dampen the paper slightly with water before you attempt to fold it over - this will help the paper fibers to bend rather than tear. Hi Jeanette! Nice to meet you. Yep, I LOVE making background papers. It's an addiction. 😜 I use any and every type of paper I can get my hands on: regular printer paper, light, medium or heavyweight cardstock, inkjet photo paper, occasionally watercolor paper. My favorite is plain old printer paper. Cheap & Versatile!
