It has been so helpful and rewarding to watch you learn and practice new Gelli printing skills. My plate is still in the original packaging (purchased last February!) but I think I’m ready, thanks to you, Gayle! I believe we view your “finished” pull-offs through different eyes and we can see so many applications for them all - even the ones you’re not particularly fond of - from washi tape, to collage bits, to beautiful bases! Hi Gayle! Fun Gelli Printing today! I like it! I've been busy lately. We went a couple hours away for apple at an orchard that's over a hundred years old. They have Braeburns, my hubby's favorite! Which is hard to find here. We've also been getting bulk foods from the Amish, plentiful where I live. So I've been canning produce nd getting the yard ready for Winter. I've also been back to subbing, but not full time. Taking it slow getting back to that. The maple across the street is now fully red. As are the flaming bushes in my front yard. In fact, the mountains next to me are in full color filled with burgundies, oranges, golds, yellows. Some trees now have no leaves, but it'sall so gorgeous that even taking a trip to the grocery store is a joy. It's a good year with the colors, for sure! I just love it! Good afternoon Gayle! 💕 Oh cool! Dancing with the gelli plate! 😂💕 You were saying ‘it’s all about the layers’. I still have to remind myself (every time I play with the gelli) that the top layer on the gelli plate is bottom layer on the pull off. My brain has a problem with that for some reason. Good Evening Gayle! I like the use of the liquid inks, I do make my own for dying papers, will give this a try. I think the use of the oxides are less messy. It’s nice to see what others come up with too. Have a nice evening. 👍🍂🍂🍂

Fantastic. I don't have any alcohol inks (they're very expensive here). Every time I think of buying one or two I start thinking, "but what would I really use them for?" So neat to see you play with them so I can add it to the positive side of my internal argument. 😄 🥰

I don't have jellies so I live through you!🤣 If you take requests... here are mine I'd love to watch: Black paint to pick up dried ink Use your black paper to jellie print When you sprinkle drops of color, use a straw to blow it around to make designs to pull up.😍 I may need to add a jellie mat to my Christmas list!! Hi Gayle, loved the alcohol inks play! I haven't used mine on the gelli plate, yet! This video reminds me I do want to try. A couple of suggestions: let the inks dry on the plate, don't rush to pull them out, it seems to me some of your best pulls were with applying paints over the dry plate! I then apply would play with that and not feel quite so rushed... The other suggestion is to do some mark making once the inks are dryish - Robyn McClendon uses Posca pens to write on the plate, draw and such (they have acrylic paints inside) - they come up with a paint pull, along with the background. You might also want to experiment pulling the prints w other papers like - glossy photo paper, deli paper, Chinese calligraphy paper, etc... hugs

So excited I spent most of the day yesterday with my gelli plate. I was going to use modeling paste with stencils when I was done, but all but two of them were dried out. Some were new from Tuesday morning so maybe they were old? Maybe it’s because I’m in California?? Mine always dry out 🤔. Oh well my prints came out cool. Now I have to try the alcohol inks 😊

Have you ever tried making your own alcohol inks, Gayle? I've seen so many vids lately about it and it seems a pretty inexpensive way to get a lot of different colors, especially if using dried-up markers (which miraculously still have lots of ink in them). Apparently, food coloring can be used, too.

Everyone knows the hack for these inks, yes? If not take the dried up color stems of markers and add to rubbing alcohol into spray bottles from dollar store. Mix your own colors!

That would have to be alcohol markers wouldn’t it? Rather than water-based markers? I have a bunch of old Le Plume and other water-based markers that I was going to go through and see if any of them had any juice left.
