Brand new to gel printing, and I'm going through these, I am so glad you did this short and sweet workshop form - 5-10 minutes and one thing is so much better that listening to someone ramble and mess up which just leave me confused. You're giving me a rudder to steer by to learn this medium and technique! Thank you so much 😊

I enjoy all the visiting you get to do in your long form vids. But these shorties where you zero in on a topic are turning out to be so helpful. In fact, this very topic has been on my mind. Being a beginner I wondered about using colorless medium and there you were. I hope you also get to talk about working gel plates in arid climates. I'm up here in Colorado. Not quite as dry as AZ but we do dry out! I'm wondering if a misting room humidifier would help while I print. Thx for all your efforts, Robyn.

I love the this Posca pen idea. If you’re hesitant on adding mark making to a print, using this technique on your gelli plate you can turn it over and audition what it will look like. Then add matte medium and pull it. Great!!! Thanks Robin

Hi Posca, am loving your short technical posts, Robyn. Would you one on how to take care of the gelli plates? One artist mentioned online to always remove the plastic mylar sheet because it damages the plate, but I see you keep it attached on the underside while you work. That is good to see, as I did not know what surface to place mine on as I work. Cheers from Canada with gratitude.
@RobynMcClendon2 жыл бұрын
Hi good question! 1) Gelli arts recommends you to put the mylar it was packaged with, back on top 2) It also depends on the climate. I could never imagine leaving my plate exposed here in Arizona. The mylar and clam shell case helps to preserve the moisture in the plate. 3) I like to store my plates so that they don't gather dust or particles. So to me the logical choice is the packaging it came in and I've never had my plates damaged. 😊 Thanks for commenting!

Is gloss medium ok too?
@tammywilliams50062 жыл бұрын
This is absolutely genius. I've never seen anyone use matte medium to pull a print. I'm uncomfortable doing free hand hold mark making directly on a beautiful print, this way I can see what I'm going to get. And I love the fact that another layer can be added without adding color. My only concern is being that matte medium is a glue, should I completely clean the plate and brayer after working with this process or will the leftover bits eventually release with later print making? Thank you for sharing your talent and experience.
@RobynMcClendon2 жыл бұрын
No Worries with the Matte Medium because it isn't technically a glue though it can be used as one ie. collaging papers. It actually has a large amount of acrylic binders the same binders that are in paint just a bit less. It does release completely from the paint with little residue , treat clean up the same as you would paint! Thx for enjoying the process :)
