Question from a colleague: "If a ship is illuminated by a vertically polarized seeker, how can there be horizontal polarization in the reflection?"
Answer: edge currents can cause other polarizations to appear at the seeker, including elliptical polarizations, depending on ship aspect angle and range.
Animation shows electron movement on a flat angled plate illuminated by a microwave signal.
Video also describes operation of the twist mirror of an inverse Cassegrain antenna, which converts V-pol to H-pol and vice versa.
