Who agrees with me that siemen propulsion sounds much better than the alstom propulsion
@jadenmuniz88174 күн бұрын
I think Alstom realized it, so they decided to create a similar propulsion for the R211.

@@jadenmuniz8817 Even the MTA acknowledges that the R160B Siemens is a much more appreciated train than the R160A/B Alstom. When they were on the Q line while the 2nd Av line opened, the only trains with 2nd Av Subway wraps were the R160B Siemens. The MTA even tried to keep the few remaining Siemens sets on the Q line back in 2020 after the fleet swap had finished, but ended up swapping them with Alstoms which were set to run on the N and W, since the MTA wanted all Siemens sets in one yard. Most of the R160s with special wraps (like Zoho wraps) on the E, F, G, and R lines today are the Siemens sets. And even now, most Siemens sets run on the R line, seemingly indicating that even the MTA misses the R160B Siemens on Broadway lol. It's just pretty funny to think about.

Wonder of they can link up the siemens set with an R179 someday
@TrainMaster50974 күн бұрын
They cannot as the R160s and R179s are incompatible.
@gelatin36134 күн бұрын
they cant link them with the 179s, but from what i remember they can link the eny alstoms with 143s

My thing is why is the propulsion in back half of the train even on? I thought the conductor only operated the doors and announcements.

Is there a reason why MTA equipped some R160s with Siemens instead of keeping it consistently Alstom throughout the R160 fleet in the first place?

That makes sense considering that the R143s were built by a Japanese Rail Car manufacturer.
