Mixed worms in VermiBag Tote checked on & fed at day 110 - vermicompost

In previous check-ins dry material along the edges of the system required dampening. This time a bit of mixing the bedding is sufficient to keep things in good moisture balance

Am missing my worms...good thing I shared through the years because that's were I will get some from...and start a small tote in kitchen..I hate seeing banana peels etc. Going into garbage since I can't get out back to where I used to have compost bins....your worms are looking good and I hope everybody is paying attention.

Yay, the kiwi x2 got punctured!! This bin is probably as close to perfect moisture as you can get, it looks fantastic!! My same age tiny worm bin is up to it's eyebrows in material as well so I may have to steer it toward finished castings before this bin...I was hoping to go totally in sync with it! I won't totally rule it out but ironically I fed it lots of strawberries too! Excellent video!!🪱🪱🪱

It's always fun watching how the two same-age systems are progressing relative to one another. In my system I think I can go a few more feedings before trying to wind things up :)

When the weather in Minnesota gets a little warmer, I want to order a larger amount of worms...but meanwhile I have the 100 worms I got from Petsmart that are called Big Reds. I don't see them acting much like they're composters. ??? I will check again today. Where did you get the combination of worms that you showed in this video? Do you think that's a good idea for someone who's planning on Keeping it down to one bin? Also, I have read some reviews where people say that the large companies send their worms out sort of "dehydrated" or something. Then you have to rehydrate them when you get them! What's that all about? Did I miss something?

The mixed worms I got from somebody who originally obtained them from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm _(I was given the worms in the original Uncle Jim's bag)_ The dehydrated state of the worms after a few days in transit makes sense. They must be packed in dry material when they are shipped - so a bit of moisture loss is expected & normal. At least that is what I have gathered from watching videos on KZbin :)
