I'm Japanese. It's been less popular among young people, but many women used to use this method in Japan. My mum used to ask if I shaved my face hair quite frequently when I was a teenager LOL. She even allowed me to go and get shaved in a barber shop with professional razor and cream when I was very little like 7 years old and I absolutely loved it! I felt like an adult and pretty! The barber knew what he was doing. I think it cost like 10 dollars 25 years ago. I might try it again when I'm back in Japan. Thanks Susan for reminding me of the sweet memory :)

I started doing this about a year ago, when the baby fuzz on my upper lip started to become a little more prominent as I get older. It’s still blonde but it’s noticeable when I put makeup or tinted moisturizer on. I tried waxing but. It was too irritating for me. I was super nervous at first, but it’s really not as intimidating as it looks! I do it every 6-8 weeks as well, and unlike people think it does not come back thicker! Thank you for sharing your routine Susan! 🤗

@@helan311 Don't be afraid to try it. I'm 69 and have been using an 'emjoy'. I'm not sure what to call it as it was only ever referred to as an emjoy but that's the brand name. It has many tweezers that spin around and remove the thick hairs from the roots so they take longer to regrow. It basically removes the hair the same effect as waxing. It's just more convenient and a lot less expensive to do it at home than make appointments. The dermablade is better for the fine fluffy hairs because it also removes the dead skin cells. If you use the dermablade on your coarse hairs they will feel sharper or thicker but it's not that you have more hairs, it's just that the way you shave the hairs leaves a sharp tip on the hair. You won't notice it when you shave, but when the hairs are coarser it will feel a little sharp as it grows because you're not removing the hair bulb. You certainly won't grow more hairs though, but if they bother you after using the dermablade, you won't have done irreparable damage. You can just go and have it waxed to remove the hairs from the bulb. It's great for fine fluffy hairs though. It's like snipping a very fine stemmed weed. If you dermablade/shave coarse/thick hair, it's like cutting a tree branch and leaving the thick stem. Waxing is like pulling the weed out from the root except that it will regrow with the same fine tip, but certainly not as thick. If you dermablade then you will either have to keep it up regularly, or have it waxed.
@wendyfay162 жыл бұрын
It only appears to be thicker after shaving because of the thickness of the shaft and the way it's shaved.

@wendyfay163 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I really love the way product feels on my skin when the fluff is gone. My foundation also goes on better without the fluff. Just a little word of advice that I'm sure that you've all heard before, please use upward strokes/massage when putting products onto your skin. Massage upwards because as you age, gravity isn't our friend. You will do everything you can to 'push' your skin upwards ... You don't notice it when you are still young and beautiful, but I'm almost 70 and I'm aware of what gravity does to older skin. While you're enjoying applying your skin care products, please remember to apply them in upwards motions. I also give my skin a good massage whilst applying my serums just to wake my skin up and get the blood flowing. The earlier you start doing this, the longer your skin will remain young. After all, if you are spending the time and money on your skin, it won't cost you anything to massage upwards. Just take an extra one or two minutes giving your skin a good wake-up massage. I also recommend putting any product left on the palms on your hands onto the back of your hands. I wish I'd been told that when I was young, as opposed to discovering it the hard way in my 50's. Our faces may not show our age, but if you look at the backs of the hands of older ladies hands, they may just tell you her actual age.
@rozsmith68502 жыл бұрын
I'm 69, and totally agree with the " gravity" issue. My extra product goes on my neck and upper chest!

@Muaskar hi Muaskar!! It's been about a little over a month, and thank God no hairs. What I would do different next time is really follow instructions when she says very light strokes. There's an area of my face close to the side of my left eye that it's a tad irritated. I can see little light red bumps and that's because there I might have accidentally accentuated a little too hard. So I would recommend very very very light strokes and only what's necessary on your face. The less the better

I don't know... ANY kind of hair is allways thinner at the ends and thicker at the roots, as well as near the skin. So if you cut it it will feel thick and it will grow with that "new" thick end and having a thicker "body". If you cut it again, this thickening will continue... Only by removing it from the root and allowing to grow a brand new one, it will have a thinner soft end again. I had laser hair removal on my upper lip, so now i have no hair there, but once a month i use a razor parallel to the lip so i keep the lip wrinkles at bay (along with skincare, of course), and it really helps.

@oblomovhans16592 жыл бұрын
Correct, hair grows back more blunt because we take off the thinnest part. I might only get thicker if we have the hormones affecting follicles during their regrowth, which is why where I started in puberty hair changed much more than where I started later, because then hormones did much of their work already. Now on shoulder even the first stubble is relatively soft and not so prickly.

@@misschrismukkah Hi! So what I've been doing for 3-4 months now is making sure I double cleanse at night, using a BHA toner/exfoliant and a moisturizer with centella asiatica and niacinamide. The first two months was horrible because it seemed like the acne on my chin was getting worse or was just not getting any better. About a month or so ago, I started using a 10% niacinamide serum and I think that's what really helped my skin a lot. I started to see a difference--less new breakouts and calmer-looking skin. 2 weeks ago I started incorporating a vitamin C serum to help with the hyperpigmentation. Oh and I make sure to put on large hydrocolloid patches on my chin area if I have to wear a mask for my 8-hr shifts just to protect it from all that friction/heat/moisture. Definitely takes a lot of time and a lot of patience. I still get a pimple or two on my chin every week (I have oily, acne-prone skin), but definitely not as bad as 2-3 months ago. Good luck! I guess I was pressing to hard because the both time I tried... injured my skin, redness and swollen...terrible experience! I have sensitive skin but I was told that even sensitive skin could tolerate dermaplaning!

But when the hair grows back does it result in a lot of Ingrown hair?
@adrianacannizzaro3 жыл бұрын
not at all cause it's vellus hair (very thin) compared to what we have on our legs or bikini area

Does the hair come back prickly or does it grow through soft as the peach fuzz was originally?
@oblomovhans16592 жыл бұрын
Hi, not sure as I'm a cis guy, so my face hair mostly grows thick (though not excessively for male standards) just for the hormones of course, my body hair got just a bit more prickly after I shaved but it stopped after a while, it was not peach fuzz to start with, but it stayed similar and under control, not really hairy. If you don't have too much hormones it should also stay similar even if you shave, except maybe a bit blunt for a while, then it should get soft again.

Love dermaplaning! I do mine about every six weeks
@suzy6868684 жыл бұрын
actually maybe it doesnt happen to some people but i shaved and now have awful bristly hair coming out of my chin. i wish i had left it alone so now i have to shave it every day but now im using a special type of lotion to help stop the hair growth.. some women do get it bad there are some women who even get beards due to hormonal problems. i would say be very careful.. just my thoughts on this i have never done dermaplane on my face so i cant comment on that..

I really want to try this but I’m so scared it’ll grow back weird I have a very light peach fuzzy face with quite thick side burns I’m always really insecure about it but I don’t know whether to just try it out
