What makes camping so exciting is the extremes!!! We have thru hikers. Who claim to be minimalist!!! Then we have luxury. I just want to fit somewhere in between of all of it!!!! LOL

Glad that you made it back this year. The Unicat is the BEST there is!, Yes it's German and the truck its built on is a German MAN also superb quality. Like always, really like the coverage that you do at events like this and of course SEMA, where we met.

i think its because this is an overlanding show so you see all the vehicle based camping products which is expensive. if this was a hiking event you would see a lot more nylon tents, trekking poles, backpacks, jetboils and hiking boots which are way more affordable. Anything with vehicles involved gets expensive real quick. Heck even buying a bare bones base model Jeep Wrangler to start building an overland rig will cost you $40,000 right out the gate.

I was wondering what your thoughts were on the Mammoth Tall Boy?

I think it’s great. Rugged, off road capable, not going to fall apart after 3 hard seasons, has a shower and toilet, bunks for kids, room to stand and change clothes easily… not sure how well $70,000 price point is going to work out for them with the current state of the economy though.

Teton gets it, any vehicle can tow and it can fit a family of 4, even 5 if you had to.

I hear you. its hard to drive to many of these shows but I see smaller versions popping up in many places now. Moore Expo in the midwest is big now. Adventure van expo is big now and they are all over the place. Im going to check out a small show in Northern California later this year so theres still hope for folks to go to a show eventually.

I heard the boxer engine was designed in the 1890s....so its basically a proven design with modern improvements over time.
