Mixing a less saturated colour palette gives me harmony ! This week in Part Two of Drawing to Painting, I experiment with colour. #colour #becreative #artist

I am sure u will have countless people who have told u this but i wanted to say it too: i have watched your videos for months and have been so struck that outside of your obvious talent u r so extremely giving and positive, conveying boundless and infectious enthusiasm for your art. years ago i did the Nick Wilton art 2 life course and many of your painting 'truths' resonate so loudly with me. I also admire your ability to laugh at yourself, to bravely show your failures as well as your successes. i PAINT AWAY quietly in my loft and never show to a soul! So congrats to you. Best R

Robert, heartfelt thanks for such lovely words, I can only say that this KZbin channel is, was, the biggest leap of faith for me ! I think it all comes down to enthusiasm - I held back on sharing and I hope that when the time is right you will show your work. Instagram terrified me but sound advice to treat it as a personal scrap book, helped me enormously ! Something to think about , maybe ? Thank you again and have a fantastic week 🥰

An absolute cliffhanger, way more exciting than "The Perils of Pauline" (old time serial melodrama). Part III can't come soon enough. Meanwhile Kitchen Crotons have been pressed into service as models for my own experimental drawing, painting, collage. Mark making on a separate sheet of paper resolves inhibitions. Cut out and paste up on preliminary work. Paint over. Try again. "Perseverance is more important than talent". Such a good video! Many thanks.

What a great video, I so enjoy hearing your thought process and seeing you work. Not normally a fan of music in background, but the soft guitar at 13:20 was so relaxing! So enjoyable to watch your videos, thank you!

Loving the process work you're doing Gaynor. Using the light grey to dull down some of the primary colours caused a light-bulb to go off in my head! It continually amazes me the things I forgot I knew - so I took that into my daily sketchbook piece and worked with it with a renewed sense of purpose. Keep well and I look forward to your next entry! 🥰

Thankyou Gaynor ❤ Intuitive mark making is a stumbling block for me - it intimidates me - I seem to need structure, which I suppose is counter working intuitively - so stuck 🤷🏻‍♀️ Do you work completely intuitively when laying down ground layers? Like you, I like to recognise a little something in abstract art - a way into a painting I suppose - but also love the little surprises and places of interest that are thrown up from the abstraction process. I’m looking forward to watching the next step 😄

Hello Tricia, Yes completely random mark making at the start - just let go and have fun, nothing matters here because a lot of what you do will be covered at the next stage ! The hardest thing is to stop yourself from judging with your critical eye - give yourself permission to go wild. When you have enough of a ground down, you will respond to it.......try different things......put some structure over the chaos ! Give yourself the freedom to play - it's a good feeling 🥰

I learned a lot from this process (even the speedy gonzales section lol). When you're finished with the A2 what will you do with it?

I am so pleased 😀 I will keep the A2 as useful reference material.....some parts talk to me more than others and I will try to repeat those going forward. 🥰

You refer to your tape as duck tape. Is it actually painters tape? Low tack artist masking tape? Seems to work very well over acrylic without damaging. I'd like to find that product or equivalent. In the extra wide you're using that's yellow

Hi Lulabelle, I have a few rolls of yellow 'duck' tape which is low tack in various widths. I am sure the brand is duck and will check when I get home. I think it comes from The Range but I pick things up from all over ! I will check and let you know. It 's really good and I re-use several times! 🥰
