I sort of agree with you on that last part Vocal are important for making a beat interesting, but Dynamics and a Story Line also make it interesting. Pretty much all Classical music has no vocals, so in order for it to be interesting, it has to tell a Story! It might start off slow and soft, then the music perks up a bit (is something about to happen), then suddenly IT'S LOUD AND AGGRESSIVE AND THE DYNAMICS ARE STRONG AND, ~whew~ that was exciting, but lets dial it back a bit...take it easy for a while... etc.
@Weaverbeats
@Weaverbeats 2 жыл бұрын
That is true! I think beats by design are a bit more empty so they often feel like they are "missing something" where as a classical song has those spaces filled in with more instruments.

Sidechaining with eq or compression for trap is just for taste. Idk what else to say about it, like really pay attention to your ears and sometimes you can get that bass and kick to hit a certain way that you heard in another song, it could be sidechaining or also possibly transient shaping, or just delaying one of the 2 in the arrangement. but if you really start to hear the sidechain carefully. you'd see how useful it is. I make EDM Hyperpop music. so Everything is sidechained to taste, to duck for signal, b u t n o t h i n g n o t i c a b l e

It definitely depends on genre, I think electronic influenced genres go a bit heavier on it. Definitely requires nuance to set tastefully.

Honestly, I have sidechained my entire mix to my whole drum kit (kick, snare, clap, hihats, everything) with very good results. I do it very lightly, but it kinda pushes the drums into all the other sounds. Then again, I haven’t released anything in a while, so take it with a grain of salt

For that normalizing part, if Im not wrong I saw a comparison video somewhere, the more compressed material ,even if the two tracks are at same lufs level, is louder 😄 which kind of fires up the loudness war again - if true -

Alternative to just dry/wet mixing the sidechain in is to run the drums to a bus that has a transient shaper that takes away the release on the drums, then run that bus to your compressor as your sidechain input. That way you are catching mostly that initial transient of each drum and that can make a 100% wet sidechain sound snappier, in my opinion

Quality flute libraries are real professional flute players recorded in professional studios with different mic placements built into a library for Kontakt most of the time. 2 examples... Spitfire Audio records at Air studios with the best players they can get. Heavyocity recorded Forzo brass at Skywalker Studios... have fun recreating those sounds in your bedrooms :P

As much as I like REAPER, I did exaggerate, and see why it isn't an intuitive option for some people, especially with the user interface looking intimidating, by default. Too much dynamics can ruin the immersion as well, and it's incredible what you can do with clipping in the mix, automation, and arrangement choices to make contrasting sections.

I'd argue that mixing is far more important than composition as it would make any shitty song creation into something enjoyable, even if it isn't the best. However, eventually like all things, you hit a brick wall with it, so you need to start improving on composition again to take it to the next level.
@Weaverbeats

They are definitely both important, it really depends on how you are looking at it because we are all working with subjective descriptions here. It won't make a bad idea into a good idea but it will make the idea more enjoyable if done right.

I think the best way when it comes to a label is to sign a deal and maximize your fanbase than to not resign and then use that fanbase to drop music independently and tour it to make money. Or make a sub label while you are signed and sign artists so you can use your exposure to make money off of your artists.

I think IF you have a good song, good mixing can go a long way. Then minimal mastering needs to be done. But you can always make things "better". So if mastering makes it sound better, why not? But then.... there's the subjective nature of "better". The reason I emphasize having good music, is that if it's not something I like myself, I don't see the point on working on it. It has to be worth my time (speaking about my own music).

I wish mixing didn’t matter as much as it did. I’ve been doing production for 3 years (which while isn’t that long), and I’d show friends some stuff abc it’d be like “that’s nice”. I hadn’t really spent that much time mixing. My friend helped me mix down a couple of my tracks (helped him with harmony!!) and it suddenly went from 0 to multiple labels being interested and 4 friends asking to collab. (Even though i explicitly mentioned my friend helped me with the mix). I don’t get it - do people not hear potential?! (To be fair all my friends make dnb but it’s like cmon…)

@@MentalPistol You'd be surprised with the response xD I've been producing for 18-19 years. I helped a friend learn now to produce almost 8 years ago. He learned how to engineer, got his own studio etc, and he'll randomly hit me up and he always talks about how he is so grateful & wants to help me. So I be like bet, teach me how to mix or atleast mix some songs for me. He either goes quiet or tells me to look up videos. But I've been telling him it dont work. Like videos be like "see how the vocal sounds better when I lower/raise this frequency?" And I be like....no? It sounded better at this other frequency you skipped over! And I have no one to confirm it with! Makes you think this sht is EXTREMELY SUPER SUBJECTIVE.
@MentalPistol
@MentalPistol Жыл бұрын
@@Statuslock It can be very subjective. Its all seasoning to taste after you have an understanding of the basics. The basics,being understand the frequency range, keeping sounds from clashing on the freq spectrum, making room for all instruments.. then u get into compression/limiting for "glue" or just to keep levels under control.. just take it one thing at a time.

When you sign with Lable first, before Lable thing meet people and find what's is in common because it's very important. You usually meet good and honest people who are looking for same persons. If that's the case go with EP. and results will be present to wide public but Income will be reduced because Lable needs to get back investment and to make profit. Independence is freedom but it can be hard to get to public but streaming is paying more . My last two tracks get to Spotify Editorial and I'm happy but i was really trying hard to be different and brave with my decisions , something that i wouldn't be able to do with Labels at least i couldn't before those two tracks. Collaborations will make music more better if it's honest relationship and it will be higher quality that would mean to your public. It will be work between two or more Artist . It's great opportunity for spreading your music and getting know your colleges better. But first try it independent and then communicate with all persons with similar goals and maybe with some DJ'S who will ask you for remix eventually. Start as soon as possible because A.I. is evolving, for me it's nothing new because i used it on PS2 Music Generator 2. and 3. and there was one another Music , Sample based program promoted by Carl Cox for Europe and for America it was famous Rapper....i know how quality of synth is important but to be honest any Synth from 32bit Era would be great just use FX wisely and Mix from the beginning, it's ether choosing right sounds that goes well together (1 placing the microphone) or start with basics which we overlooked learning the complex stuff and forgeting Volume Faders, EQ and Compressor but maybe if you have DR problems . Saturation, Reverb and delay should be enough for separation of some sounds . Higher sounds are faster and They are coming to our ears first that means that you have to make balance between mids and low mids because they are in range of human speech frequency spectrum. LUFS is important with True pick so use Loudness Penalty. Trust me they will do most accurate presentation of your sound on Streaming Platforms. If it's going to raise volume by reasonable amount of Db ( 5 ) it's a pass but if they going to lower it then it could make a problem because it's working lile Normalize so just think if it's normalize to -1,2db or -2db it would be overall better preservation then to lower volume with same process using normalize -4db will lower volume of whole track... But anyway it's interesting for listeners to one day hear how we began. 😃 Always be different, be your self and over the years it will be enough to make you happy because making Music full time job is not easy and often introduce Creativity fatigue so play with other genres just to stay in form...try Psy Trance, it's most uniquely process very hard to understand but once you do then everything else will be much easier...Kick, tight rolling Bass lines that are acomplimente with crazy Sounds FX that are creating illusion that a lots of happening but as all music genres the simplest it is it is better to be understood and recognized by audience. Everything is simple as long you have something yours to add and you don't need 20 different compressors , Reverbs and Delays ECT. You have to find what suits you best and then make your workflow for faster handling the inspiration while it's Lasts. It's beautiful Music Adventure but I'm last 3 years traveling is hard and live are too so just do it and believe in your self and as a human you can always be ahead of A.I. "Humans will Play For Robots" 😉🌻

equal energy collided with the same amount and power will be proud, you can do that in any DAW. The same Audio in two channels, and on one Audio file reverse the polarity and when you press play there will be silence. This technique can come in handy for cleaning audio from unwanted frequencies and especially for hiding Vocals, drums, Or simply just shape the sound without various Noise reduction tools. I worked on an advertisement for the Bank in which there is a farmer talked about the benefits but my friend forgot to turn on the microphone on the camera so the wind was blowing and the vocals were somewhere in the background . With the help of negative correlations, I easily cleaned up Audio, and my friend promised that he would no longer do drugs at work. 😃 Mono is the most important, but many they like to enjoy specific stereo sound and music Which has no rules so it is unpredictable a but it has a form, it is without rhythm or with little rhythm . When it comes to music with rhythm Bass is mandatory Mono Compact in order for Groove to be present. That should also apply to Bass in any case, but sometimes you have to have courage and feel for a change. In any case, we all have Mono channel summing and can check can you hear what is important in Music well on Mono? And of course check it on one speaker because that's how you'll feel Shutting down sounds due to negative correlation the remedy is to reduce the stereo width of that sound...according to some rule, everything above 3000khz can be stereo, but still check Mono compatibility.
