Keep working with Plug-in Boutique, I used to DJ all over Atlanta with Joshua Casper from PB, he's a good dude and has been in the game for years, it can be a good relationship for you bro. Keep up the good work.

The reason that presets always sounds distorted is because the MS20 has two resonant filters that will self-oscillate, once the resonance control reaches a higher level. The distortion you're hearing in that preset patch, are the filters themselves. Turn the resonance down and it will clean up. MS20 is not particularly known for being a smooth, clean synth. edit to say, its the LPF, and the resonance control is labelled "peak"

Enjoyed the review. The OG tedious interfaces are for us nerds who want to be able to know how to use a physical version of the synth if we were to come across one (which we likely never will); )

The Korg is a beast and known for it's screaming filters. I produce EDM and i use the Korg, SQ, Juno and Prophets vsts to add different flavor to a track versus using Serum, Sylenth and Spire every time. You can use your own samples in the Mellotron, Emulation II and CMI. I've been using Collection V since version 7 and I love it, upgrade prices aren't too expensive (~$150), plus you get preset packs with each upgrade. They offer an interest free payment plan as well.

The thing about a real piano is the sympathetic resonance on the sound board when you hold the sustain pedal. I've never heard a synth do that right.

Thanks man. Not sure if I should do more of them. The average watch time on this one is not great relative to my shorter videos.

Think of the future, 100 long form vids that are on here 4 years from now generate money too. Do one every 2-3 weeks, try to follow the release dates of new gear and focus on upcoming holidays. Ad Sense Ad Sense, Ad Sense. Run some like comment subscribe give aways to get more traffic and sub count. You'll get there fam, slow and steady wins the race.

@@Weaverbeats Also make a showing in the comments of the big players pages. Draw attention to yourself, should be easy to get to 20,000 subs by fall if you really make some small but intentional moves. You made it to 13,000 subs in 5 years you can double those numbers in less time just keep grinding, foots already in the door.

You gotta go back and learn about those synths you wrote off. Arp 2600 is the herbie Hancock chameleon bass sound and r2d2. Buchla did made stuff for the Grateful Dead, was a professor at Berkeley and the founder of “west coast synthesis”, where you add harmonics with a wave folder instead of taking harmonics away with a filter. The cmi is the MJ thriller sound. Synthi V is the main synth in “on the run” by Pink Floyd. I feel like you gotta know these things if you’re gonna teach people about synths.

I was given a copy of Arturia V and honestly, there's nothing in it I couldn't already do in other soft synths. I listened on HS8s, AKG K72s, and a mixdown to a sony hifi from maybe 15 years ago, and all I could find thats new is the pretty interfaces.... I do like the Rhodes Mk 8 demo though. I wish someone would give me a copy of THAT. But like, the mellotron, the arp, the m20, I already have emulations of all of those that don't sound any worse than this. I love my BSP for jamming and live gigs, I use it for guitar, drum and bass guitar looping all the time, but the arturia software has some bonkers prices. Not TE bonkers, but pretty bonkers.

I hope we are heading towards are future where all plugins offer a modern GUI alongside the skeuomorphism (aka lets make boomers happy) approach, so people can choose. "Why do I also have to suffer?" is a cool way to put it.

i jumped in the syntronik 2 groupbuy and i ain't been able to use it yet bc hard drive space, but the whole time i was waiting for the groupbuy numbers to go up i couldn't help but wish that the groupbuy was really for this lmao

like i can't even tell you which sounds better (even tho i know the syntronik analog drift shit is pretty crazy) but much less harddrive space, a much less annoying company, more presets in addition to just being easier to make presets for/find third party presets, and not having to wait 3 fucking minutes for a single preset to load.

A pretty fair review, but maybe not the best taste in music to start with, I’m guessing? (he did make the most basic tik tok type trap beats that every wannabe producer with a DAW around the world makes. So …) The Emulator 2 is one of the better synths in the V collection (that “dated” crunchier sounding sample rate is literally the whole point! It’s a feature not flaw. But a guy like this, with limited exposure to real music, just hears an instrument that doesn’t sound super clear and bright like Serum … and he doesn’t get it). And he also dissed the CMI Fairlight, one of the cooler synths in the collection as well. At the time he made this video, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” was literally the number one song on the Billboard charts and streaming services. That song is built around the sounds of the CMI Fairlight. Maybe it’s just a generational thing? But I think it’s also just a matter of taste as well? The V collection is definitely not the go to soft synth collection if you just want to make basic, modern, trap tik tok music. I’m not trying to flame the dude, either. I think he did a good job of being honest and giving everything a genuine shot. That’s all you can ask for in gear reviews like this. It doesn’t matter if you disagree, as long as the presenter is being honest, the viewer can decide for themselves. There are a lot of reviews of gear and Vsts on YT where the viewer never actually commits to saying much of anything one way or another. This review was not that.
