Mixing Glazes from Clayscapes Pottery

Learn how to mix dipping and pouring glazes made by Clayscapes Pottery (yes, they are the company that is making and selling my signature Chun Blue glaze!) You can also use this technique for any dry glaze that needs to be mixed. Be sure when mixing glazes that you take proper studio safety measure and wear the appropriate gear ie: mask/respirator, gloves and if necessary goggles.

Great video! I use these same buckets. Usually sieve while glaze is thicker. So I poked 4 holes in the rim of the sieve and use tiny bungee cords to stabilize the sieve and attach it to the rim of the bucket. I then spin the bucket on my wheel on my Giffin Grip. Works even better than the Talisman because I don’t have to crank it! Let my wheel do the work!

Thanks for this video. I bought some glazes last year and the guy in the store was not helpful at all! He didn't even bother to tell me I needed a screen! What a jurk! You would think if someone walked in to your shop and spent over six hundred dollars he would be nice enough to tell me I needed one!😳🙄 I even told him I was just starting....🤨👎 That's OK, I never went back. I just go to another pottery store. 👍But it is kind of sad that I'm finding this out from you a year and a half later🙄 Thank goodness I have you😁‼️👍

Yes, especially bad because you re so new. I have run into this too or once when there was a new person the staff person was arguing with another customer that she couldn't start with a cone eight clay. Only cone six. So I argued for the customer. As long as she understood that it was harder in some ways. Plus and minuses to everything and some people like to do things differently.

Im wondering what happened with tge plastic corner you cut from tge glaze bag. It fell into tge glaze. I canr sleep worrying about it. 😂

just to let you know you can make your own hand crank sieve just like TALSMAN. The TALSMAN cost $280 plus tax and shipping. But If you go to eddies pottery I can show you how to make one for less than $35. I made 3 of them for about $31. each 80mesh and they will out last the TALSMAN.

Hi Jessica, just a quick question, if you'd found that the glaze was too runny, you would leave it a while and take some water off? What about if the glaze leaves like a dribble on the pot, would you add vinegar or something else to slow down its fluidity..? Have you done a video on this subject yet?
