Rachel Maksy *nifty tip* you can make the back part of the tie (the narrow part) longer than usual so that once it’s tied the front part (the wide part) is short and to the desired length then just tuck the back part in your shirt between a couple of buttons.

Gem thrift store find: I live in the Pacific Northwest and I recently went to our thrift store and found a triangle shawl made in the Republic of Ireland(I assume it is from the 70’s). It is pure linen hand loomed. Paid $8 for it

I went to a vintage clothing shop (don't know why it is called a vintage shop because it was more like a slightly more up there in price Clothing Thrift store) and I found my PERFECT leather trench coat! I am 5'3 and have a medium frame so typically every leather trench coat I find drags the ground or is just too large to be comfortable. WELL I found a trench coat that perfectly hits the middle of my calves and is a size Medium! It was like $40 which is up there for me but I HAD to get it! I have now realized my dream of looking like Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer because the coat is nearly identical to his! I love thrifting!

I loved this chance to see how your thought process works as you style your finds. There were a couple of times you were giving off "My Girl Friday" vibes. Then you changed an element of like trousers to skirt and it was "Anne of Green Gables" which was so cool. It just shows how choosing the right piece can alter the whole outfit.

I've had great luck with finding wool skirts, suits, and coats at my local thrift stores. Vintage Pendleton and such. My favorite find is a 1950s shot tafetta strapless prom dress. It was perfect for a swing dance event last year, when social dances were a thing!

I love that Degas statue for 2 reasons: 1. its beautiful and meaningful for me and my mom cuz she was a dancer n that's something we bonded over 2. there are legitimately 28 different copies of the statue all over the world, and so basically every major city in the US has one (the original is in DC tho) (which is where I live) The fact that there are so many means that basically everyone has seen it and loves it in the same way and that feels very special to me!

I've recently purchased some old style suede shoes that I now love and can't get enough of, but also found a men's long coat that is just an old style aesthetic I long for. (Your channel helped inspire me to ware these whenever possible. Thank you!) When you asked about weird stuff people found in thrift stores... I knew this was my push to make a first comment. My partner and I recently moved 1600kms. Massive undertaking. We donated as much as we could to thrift stores before we left, as much as was in good condition, and one of those things was a black crochet coat/cardigan/thing? with a fake fur collar that I bought when I was young and gothy. I loved it but it's been more than a decade since it fit so I hoped someone broke and gothy would get a nice cheap cool thing, and let it go. 6 months later, we're thrifting in our new home, in a new state, and what do I see but the dang coat thing! It was mine, i could see where I repaired it and it still had hair from our cat in it! It was a different thrift store chain, 1600kms away, and I was being stalked by the ghost of personal style past. LOL

This video was fun (as always) to watch and was really useful because I struggle to pair colors and tops/skirts in my more vintage style at times. Please do more like this! 😄 And if possible, could you please do a jacket/sweater/cold weather type video?? I don't have a lot of everyday jackets to stay warm in the cooler months and have a hard time figuring out what jackets look good with vintage looks. I have a lovely coat, but it's very fancy and too heavy for just going to classes. A video like this would be massively helpful!! 💕
