Pleaaaasee don't take these videos down like you have with live stuff in the past. Im currently wrapping up an album in a different genre. But I have all of these on my watch-later to take notes on when I get back to my next cinematic project! A lot of the info I've heard from you before, and greatly improved my skills. But this format is so amazing and helpful and will be a great refresher and more.

I notice that you don't gain stage the majority of your mixing changes. How do you ensure that you're not just favouring a volume change? That layering/reverb/automation discussion at 1:33 is excellent.

Where can i get these sound fx ( i am not taking about the sample library) that is used in orchestral music for free? I know free stuff doesn't sound good. But right now i can't afford to buy good paid stuff.
@sunumaudio Жыл бұрын
I know it's late, but a great FX pack is The Free Orchestra by ProjectSam. It has orchestral FX and percussion stabs, alongside just normal patches for strings, brass, a choir etc. Spitfire audio also has a bunch of great packs for free. BBC Discover is also a good starting point.

Hello, can you suggest about how to deal with the loudness that comes from Strings VST Expression while mixing. I’m new in mixing and I’m so confused about it. Hope you reply this comment, I really don’t know who to ask this question. 🙏🏻
@paulmdevenney2 жыл бұрын
This is a guess, because you're question isn't really a question. If you are asking "why use Expression rather than any of the million other ways to change the volume", then I would (personally) suggest considering expression as something to manage as part of the recording of the part. Consider it the emotion put in by the performer as they played. Hiting a string with more force or less to convey the emotion of the piece. The *relative* expression values of the part should be pleasing to your needs *before* taking it to mixing. The other various methods for balancing volume (gain, EQ, compression and others) of a stem are "post recording", and generally should not be used to try and make a mediocre "performance" into a good one. I'm only a hobbiest though. YMMV.

Thank you so much🙏🏻. This is what I asked for. I took a lot of time to think how to make a clear question. My English is not quite good, sorry about that.

Thanks very much for these Marc, you explain these concepts better than anybody else on KZbin! What do you think about the analog saturation plugins contained in Ozone, compared to the Waves Kramer Tape for instance? I have both and am tempted to just use Ozone’s but my mixing skills aren’t trained enough to know what the big differences are.
