This week I’ve melted some copper and mixed it with silver.
It looks like rose gold! But cheaper 😏. I got the idea when I talked to Mike Pommer, I asked him if there is something like rose gold but not that pricy😅. He told me 90% copper and 10% silver is as good as rose gold.
So I needed to try that out. As my girlfriend likes pink stuff, I made the smaller ring for her and she liked it😉. And that’s what it all about😉.
About the pour.. I missed one, and poured to much in the other flask😑. Got a camera set up, right above!! And it overheated, so no closeup 😔. Hope the temperature will drop soon because I keep loosing footage like this😔.
I hope you liked it! Got some bigger melts planned, so I hope the temperature drops fast so we can get to 300kg fast 😁.

That's a great color. With that high of a copper content, have you had any problem with it patinating over time? Or does the silver keep it from oxidizing quickly?

Yeah, I like it 😁. Well, with every ring I casted I got patinating , but with the silver/copper ring it’s not that bad.. With the brass one’s, it was visible very quickly..

@@SJWCASTING -- DUDE! 25% silver/75% copper looks amazing? I swear I can't tell it from rose gold! I melted it all together and made sure to mix it well, poured a little ingot, and rolled it to a D profile. Soldered it with 56% silver solder, filed it, hand sanded it to 7000, then polished it. You have to try this mixture!

@@jamesway5036 Yes, but it gave the ring a “how do you call it” dull finish. It’s clear coat, but the shine was gone😑.

so its imposible for a 9.50 or .999 piece to look like that rose gold color and still be a 9.50 silver chain? like they do to make rose gold with the white gold

Can you mix silver and titanium?

I can’t reach the melting point of titanium. Electric furnace goes till 1250° I believe and I need over 1600°
