I had an MX80 in the 90's. Compared well to Sony or Studer 2" track machines. Did a lot of tracking before dumping on Sony 3348 digital when finishing projects in big studios. Maintenance is pricey when it's due. So is the tape, surprised you can still find some. The motors on yours sound worn. They're inaudible normally (30 years ago).

We just serviced the motors and found that they're just a bit dirty. They are working perfectly :)

This would be really awesome.. if we we could get a direct output just get another Mac and record it in and line up the video later, not too hard. Hopefully in the future!

I was gonna do that but i have no time to sync the audio and video in post as our studio is busy daily. When I get the time ill make another one with the direct out :)

the snare sucks it has no presence, you have to act on the mids in the ambient microphone and raise the mids on the snare using the one with a little distressor and better if you do it in stereo, on the microphone near the snare you have to have few trebles on 13 thousand hz give it presence otherwise it disappears under the guitars, it gives a little presence also to the voice and the guitars the bass is fine like this

Thanks for your advice. The song has already been client approved after we recorded to the 2 track master :)

@@mixmachineanalog to give you a practical example of what I said in the previous message , I 'm sending you a link to a professional but drum - only mix of metals enter sandmand , you will notice how the reverbs not only of the snare are on the medium and high frequencies and apparently exaggerated , but if you mix this drum with everything else that's the way to make it appear very present powerful and gigantic in the final mix, kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGHIqH-HhLV-haM

I will never ! understand why people demonstrating their lovely gear are mostly filming it with crappy mobile phone's sound to it ? Just ridiculous...grrrr. Nice MX though.

Thanks haha. It's just very tedious to record to anothe stereo out and combine the video with audio. I just want to show quick videos of what we do in the studio. But you can check out our other videos with great audio. we recently uploaded a Nuemann vs warm audio comparison. thanks for chiming in!!!

Actually it would be so easy to put on a stereo feed when editing the video. But thanks for your answer.... And no, it's not a big tedious way to record it !!! Would have been interested in how you EQ it ( ADT-Audio ? ) and your other lovely stuff. That's just lazy and not a good advertising for your recordings. Why don't you show up this analog beauty in full blossom ? The MX 80 is a wonderfull machine, though had to record a couple of months ago to a AEG/Telefunken M15A 16 track with Telcom/ANT C4 NR on it. The craziest, best Sound I ever got ( S/NR like CD ) Keep Analog/Hybrid alive 1@@mixmachineanalog

@@rovermuc Not lazy. Too busy with studio work and time management. Studio is super full and I really don't have time for quick videos that I just want to do some quick stuff. But thanks.
