Chad is using the matrix system (matrices) of the Behringer X32 but this would work with any digital or analog mixer!

So, I actually have to Send On Fader LR fader to the Matrix? That's the procedure? Did you did a video on that? I would love to watch it! Thank you! I love watching your video, they are very practical and informative!

Good question. On the console, you can do sends on fader. In the editor app I'm using here (an old version), they forgot to add that functionality so I'm going to the LR fader, selecting the sends tab and adjusting from there. Both achieve the same result :) -Chad

Sorry if I sound dumb, but I am not a "sound Guy", but I do operate the sound board at our church, have been for 6 years now. I know how to operate it to make things sound good, but I have no idea how to do routing or any of the other stuff. I have a canon xa10 video camera. It has xlr input. I was wondering if there is a simple want to connect to the board and record audio from the board from all channels?

how would you connect up your loudspeakers and sub to use a matrix fed sub?

Have you tried inserting the Sound Maxer effect to the L&R main to have that same effect on all the matrix mixes. I use Matrix 1&2 for Streeming, Martix 3 for lobby, Matrix 4 for front fills, Matrix 5&6 for FOH and M/C for Subs. What are your thoughts on this setup?

I don’t really have much interest in the Sound Maxer. I’m usually too limited on rack FX and I get more use out of the Precision Limiter for my Stream busses. Have you been using it? How do you like it? I did recently add the stereo enhancer on a broadcast console. I happened to be lucky enough to have enough busses and rack effects to splurge a little in that one situation :) -Chad

So I have setup my mains and sub as you have outlived but now I can’t solo any of the channels. Is this right?

This setup should have zero affect on your solo. Could you explain what you’re experiencing?

@@AWTechTuesday Hi thanks for getting back to me. your channel has been so helpful already. So I literally setup the mains L+R as you said via matrices with a 3rd as my sub. I am running stage m onitors and IEM's out of the other busses but when I try to solo a channel nothing happens. I can hear the whole mix literally no change. Very strange. Mutes work ok lol

May also be worth noting that in this particular instance my inputs were coming from the card as I was doing a virtual soundcheck

Solo on the console does not affect any output except for what’s coming out of the monitor and headphone outputs. That way, if you solo something, it won’t affect what the audience or musicians on stage are hearing :) -Chad

Right now I have the board set so LR Fader sends to the following matrices: FOH LR, Lobby, and an Overflow room. In the Overflow room, the vocals seem heavier than the instruments. I am wondering if there is a way to send more instruments to the Overflow specifically?

If you have 1 or 2 (if in stereo) extra busses, you can send a submix of instruments to that mix and then blend it in to the matrix that needs more vocals. Another option would be to set up a post-fade mix that can be sent to the overflow, online, etc. That mix would "follow" your main mix and allow you to boost or lower instruments to make up for issues in the room (like a loud drum kit). Is it possible to do the same thing as you show with master LRM/C and FOH LRM/C with the matrix but in reverse? For instance can the master be in the matrix and the FOH be in the right side? Our church is getting the X32 next month, and I see you can select the usb recording source. Is there anything else that would block this concept?"

I'm new to the X32, haven't worked on one just yet but getting one very soon. I love your concept of separating your master LR mix and FOH LR feeds because I see your point you make in this video. What I wanted to know is if you can essentially do the same thing but the FOH LR feed is in the LR faders and the master LR feed in the matrix (basically flip the order as you show in the video example). With the routing options in the console, is it possible to do this?

If you're asking if you can send the signal of a Matrix to the LR fader, no you cannot do that. The LR fader is a mix and can therefore only receive input channels. The matrices are designed to receive mixes (such as the LR mix etc). Is your reason for wanting this based on the visual layout you want for your console?

Ascension Worship - #TechTuesday Yes, trying to keep it simple. Most of my team will want to use the main fader for FOH volume, because it makes sense to. I just prefer to avoid having other mix signals affected by the main LR fader. So short answer is yes, wanting to maintain a better visual layout

You can set some of the Matrices to be pre-fade rather than post if you want to the LR mix to feed all the matrices but not have all affected by the fader. That should accomplish what you want.
