Do you have any examples of when you might commonly utilize the hold function on a compressor..? Maybe on vocals for a more constant level on them..? I'm gonna try it later today on vocals and maybe a VST piano... (Cubase's stock compressor has a hold function with a default of 1ms, which I've never really touched as of yet)

+kye903 Hey Kye, Not off the top of my head. It is actually an unusual feature I have only seen in a couple of plugins. the fabfilter Pro C2 is one and I think the iZotope compressor also has this feature. I'm sure there are many others. Might be worth experimenting with a keyed compression in a 'ducking' situation where you want the recovery to be squared up to the beat. Zero release time and set the hold to 1/8 note, 1/4 note or whatever works. Let me know if you come up with anything cool. Cheers! Mike

About density(cause the Attack article about big sound), just to said it is up to each one to get the sound he like the most, not just density but all, dynamique, mouvement ect,.. i had listen to examples of the Kush Audio´s UBK1 devise (great tool by the way), in their demo they do a mix which move a lot, to me it is not nice, the mix fool me, just i.e. so at end you/me and our ears

Every song and mix needs to be sensitive to what is best. Some songs need more movement, some need to be stabilized. The point here is to understand the techniques that allow you to get whatever approach you think is best, quickly and easily.
