Fantastic content! I know this is an older post but I just wanted to say "thank you". Eye opening material. Just curious as to how to achieve your "opposing shelf" eq with Pro Q3. Many regards and take care!!!

When you put the MV2 on the bg vocals, it became fuller. Love that. I wish you played the lead too when you played the bg vocals alongside the music so we would know how it translates after all the processing but great video nevertheless!

Ish Santos Hey Ish! Yes, I guess that would have been a good reference point for the lesson. Usually, when you get the spread on the BGs right the lead stands out even better. Thanks! Mike

Great vid Mike. I was taught and please correct me if im wrong is that you do 4 stacks of each harmony is that too much. And also i noticed that you yreated each harmony individually can can each harmony be bussed together and treated by each part (unison,sap,alto, and tenor)?

LuvMusiq37 Hey LM, Yes, it has been a standard practice to quadruple all BG parts including harmonies for the last 25 years or so. regarding individual tracks, I almost always do at least subtractive EQ and one layer of compression. I find that it blends much better and allows me to focus on any specific problems track by track. Splitting harmonies onto separate stems is sometimes necessary if there are a lot of stacked harmonies or you need to do a bit of automation to the individual harmonies to make them blend better throughout the song. In the end, whatever is necessary to make it sound great. Cheers! Mike

What do you think I can do to achieve this doubling effect in logic as it don't have the opposite panning it only has left or right that is it? If you know left me know please
@mixingwithmike8 жыл бұрын
+Nathan Brown The Doubler has pan control within it. Otherwise you will need to reverse the Left Right with a utility plugin on the effect return. Cheers! Mike

how do you get 3 or more send faders? I only know how to get two.
@mixingwithmike9 жыл бұрын
insanebiscuit1 I think this feature was added in to Pro Tools 11. Just Command Click on the far left of any send and the row will open. In PT10 I think this opens a menu to decide what row is displayed. Hope that answered your question... Cheers! Mike
