This song is about her marriage/relationship with Tommy Mottola who incidentally was the head of Columbia records (her record label). Listen to Petals from the rainbow album. The first verse is about her her sister. The second is about her stepdaughter and stepson, and the rest is about Tommy. Their relationship was difficult from the start, after their divorce he tried to sabotage her career. Look it up or read her book. It’s there in black and white, but seriously listen to Petals.
