Hi Mike, could you do a video on the bounce on wedges? I'm talking about chip shots from 50 yards in, off tight lies especially, and just as important the best bounce out of sand, I know there are different types of sand and amounts of sand in bunkers but a general guide would be a big help, I know this is as broad as its wide as different ways of playing bunker shots, and angles of attack, but if you could help out in letting us know how to get a bit more spin, I'm ok out of bunkers but I'd like to know how to get a bit more grab, and what technique you use. Cheers Geordie.

Hi, check this video out which explains different bounces and grinds kzbin.info/www/bejne/qafJqKNujpJ1r6s but yes I'll try and do another on the technique aspect

Love the videos Mike. Just wanted to know your thoughts on this... I switched from the titleist ap2 to the 716 mb and hit the ball much better than I ever did with ap2. Strike is more consistent, distance control is great, and my curvature has neutralized some. For me I feel I have more room for error with a bladed iron. 1 hcp

I have Mizuno MP-25s. The spin rates are very similar to MP-5 for me but sometimes I feel like the ball balloons way too high and drops like a rock. It only happens with 8,9,PW really though. I've found that Mizuno sweet spots are located a bit different on the face than most other manufacturers. The Srixons I tested were very similar and beautiful clubs. Both manufacturers make very high quality (yet sometimes underrated/under appreciated) products.

+Adam Denison Hi Adam. I know what you mean. I've found the Srixon's and other Forged iron brands generally spin slightly lower than the Mizuno's. can be a good thing or not depending on the player and the dynamic loft delivered at impact.

mike whats your thoughts on the cranking of lofts I took up golf and bought a no name brand for £100 driver 3w 5w and 9 irons and 2 wedges and a putter and bag . I got the Bug and bought a set of callaway bigbertha irons the loft on the 6i was 30 degrees in 2006 I bought a set of mizuno mx25's loft on 6i 30 deg in 2011 I bought a set of mp53's again 6i 30 deg . now I'm getting that feeling again but my choices are limited I hit my current 6i 165 meters carry so thats near as makes no difference 180 yards long enough for me . I want forged and some forgiveness but I'm long enough . I'm more interested in dispersion and proper gapping I dont wand 30 yards between my pw and gw , than distance but here is the problem to stay in a six iron 30,31 or 32 deg your into very rareified air ap2 mp25 seem to be it for me I have not hit the likes of the titleist cb or callaway apex pro or the taylormade psi tours or the jpx 900 tours as the seem too bladey for me have they become more user friendly . I'm a decent ball striker but I'd like a little help too . offset also puts me off as I feel like its going left and my predominant bad shot is a hook so the start of the "players" irons is where I feel I sit. what else is out there

sthil golfin hi. Understanding you. Doesn't matter what type of club you go for whether it's blade or game improvement you'll probably find a big gap between PW & SW......gap wedge is a must! A lot of brands have cranked lofts stronger but some of the more game improvement irons have shifted CG around the head which actually makes the ball launch higher. Worth trying the Srixon Z65 range.

ok I'll add them to my options list thanks

today I hit the mp5 and, going from unspecialized ping i5s, I added 15 yards to my irons and straightness improved drastically. just shows the importance of fitting

Really good video! Keep up the good work! I play off 2 and really like bladed irons so exactly what I'm looking for. I am still playing the Titleist 710mb. Would you say that more modern blades are better (feeling, forgiving) ?
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
SuperYoda7 thanks for your comment & glad your enjoying the videos! Not sure if feel has changed as striking any blade iron of any age flush feels awesome. However, I would they are more stable and deffo slightly more forgiving than older styles of blades. I think you would see a difference between your 710's and a newer model blade especially on slight miss hits.

Thanks very much for your answer. I appreciate it. I will definitely try some newer blades. Keep up the good work.

Cool vid. Are they both the same loft?
@SuperYoda78 жыл бұрын
Rob Roberts He actually says at 0:30 that the Mizuno is 30 degrees of loft, and the srixon 29. So not the same loft.

Enjoyed that video good comparison, l can't see the 1 degree making much difference on the distance but the spin rate showing the Mizuno will stop quicker on the greens, I know the height was higher but not really that much. So my question is do you think it's the groves making the Mizuno stop quicker or is it your strike angle? As you know I play srixon but the Mizuno is a quality club. Look forward to your reply Mike. Cheers for the video.

Geordie Sancaster hi. It won't be the grooves, more the strike that changes spin. A ever so slight change of strike on the face (talking mm's) can change spin by 200/300 rpm' easily!

Michael Newton Golf in every review I have seen of the Z65 iron line up, the spin numbers appear very low in relation to loft.

Yes I'm seeing that too

Miura say their "baby blade" is their most forgiving iron... And they fit based on player preference and numbers vs handicap

I'm confused MP4, MP5? you didn't say much about the Srixon irons. They are both sweet lookin but too intimidating for me.
@MichaelNewtonGolf8 жыл бұрын
Hi Allan, you confused me with your comment, have you commented on the correct video as I've done a separate vid on the MP-4 and MP-5 which I think is what you are referring too. This video you've commented on was the MP-5 against the Srixon Z965
@odaat19858 жыл бұрын
+Michael Newton Golf- I know what video I commented on. From 10.30 minute mark in this video you talk about MP 4 and 5 and don't say much to compare the Srixon Z9 which was the purpose of the video. It seems to me that the Mizuno performed way better than the Srixon- spin rate, decending angle, distance pattern-all you say is that these clubs are scarey and you could make up a hybrid set-would that hold true for the Srixon's too? if so why don't you say so? These clubs are way too unforgiving for me to hit anyway but I like your explanations and insight so I was confused when MP4 was mentioned, I will watch that comparison video next.

Hey good video! Can you do a head to head with Cobra King LTD Pro MB vs MP-5? or VS srixon z965? Very fair testing
