Just left a MP-20/JPX 921 fitting. I currently game MP-62 , I want to replace them with a similar club. After all the heads and shafts available the MP-20 MMC with a Stiff KBS shafts where hands down the best for me. I'm 40 years old been golfing most my life currently a 18.5HC after 2 left ankle surgeries before was a 13HC. Mark thanks for the awesome work that you and your crew does!

Unless you hit it in the middle of the face 95% off the time this is the iron to get of the MP20 range, IMO. I am a 5 handicap w/ an above average swing speed and I was fitted for these clubs and came away w/ the MMC pw-5I and the HMB in the 4i & 3i. The MMCs look very much like the blades at address. The top line is ever so slightly thicker than the blades, but I felt little to no difference in the responsiveness of these two clubs. The mmc performs better on slightly off center strikes than the blades, as to be expected, but I did not feel as though I couldn't shape the ball with the mmc's either. These also carry a few yards further, (mostly due to stronger lofts), but I did not sacrificae any spin with them, so my decision was easy. The HMBs are not like the P790s or I500s, in as much as they are not nearly as hot, but they are definitely a great option for someone looking for more forgiveness and more yardage.

Spent my Sunday morning testing Mizuno clubs at the custom fit centre at Silvermere in Surrey (UK). I've landed on the MP20 MMCs 4-PW, I just got a really good set of numbers with them and they felt great too. I will have to re-learn my yardages though as I was getting almost a club extra distance over my current MP64s. Something of a first-world problem though when all's said and done, I suspect I'll get through it!

Big Mizuno fan, but I'm a higher handicap and love the super techy clubs. Have JPX900s currently and love them to death. Run 5-PW in them and use a hybrid for my 4. A perfect strike is one of the most satisfying feelings with them.

I just bought these irons. They fit me well as what I’d call a formerly elite player or a lapsed competitor. They give me that *nearly* blade feel, but they are forgiving enough that I can hit them consistently even when life makes me take a month or two off. I also that think despite being advertised as part of a line that’s easily combo’d, they’re the perfect option for someone who likes the MP line but prefers a full set, whether that is for bag appeal or resale value when they’re ready to buy your next set of mizunos, because let’s face it, if you play these for any extended period of time, any other brand will feel like stone heads on hickory shafts.

I find Dan's ideas about the trouble around greens and going long being dead very interesting. I always find the most trouble around the front. Visually, bunkers are predominantly placed at the front of greens. I tend to find longer keeps me out of the sand and safer...
@msalvs5 жыл бұрын
M111OVD Dan probably thinks bunkers are safer than possibly an uneven lie. That’s shared by all pro players, they see bunker shots as a comparatively easier shot. If you watch a pro event you’ll often see them shouting for their ball to catch the bunker when they hit a bad shot, strange as it may seem👍🏻

Absolutely agree with the combo comment, if you are gonna combo to get added help and forgiveness in longer clubs, why take such a small step. Go up to the HMB and tweak the lofts to get the desired gapping at your split.

When Dan was talking about water between the club face and ball with the wedge, it reminded me of a TXG video I seen not that long ago. Where they sprayed water on the face of a new ping and vokey wedge. The vokey wedge dropped spin dramatically and the ping held it's spin. They said The reason the ping held it's spin is the coating they use. Maybe you guys should do a video and see if it holds true or was their test flawed.

My perspective on these irons is heavily influenced by the fact that I still play my '84 Hogan Apex PCs. About as blady a blade as there ever was. I recently tried both the MB and MMC at a local retailer. I'd hit my club a few times, then the MB or MMC equivalent. I'm working on a swing change, so my strike was not as good as usual, but this was likely a good thing. Previously, I tried the new Hogan Icon blades and came away disappointed - slightly better turf interaction with the V sole, but good strikes were less satisfying than my PCs, and bad ones no more forgiving. With the Mizuno MBs, good strikes were without doubt better than my old Hogans, and bad ones surprisingly forgiving. With the MMCs, good strikes were fine, but lacked the special feel of the MBs. Bad strikes felt clunky. Given the choice of MMCs or my old Hogans, I'd stick with my old Hogans. The MBs are special enough to get me to pony up, however, and I'm getting fitted soon. Will I hit the HMBs to see about maybe blending at the 4 or 5 iron, yes, just to check. But a good MB 4 iron was a sight to behold with a high soaring flight, so they've got their work cut out to get into my bag.

@golfbuddy19695 жыл бұрын
A comment about combo sets having a more aggressive difference between them...but if you play a hybrid or two, then the cavity in maybe 5-7, and blade 8-w, you are actually making a 3 level combo. Then you can create what you want, performance, forgiveness, and yardages.

Hi Mark, love your vid as always! As a high handicapper, I just wondered what your opinion was on the following... After watching your MP5 experiment video, do you think it’s worth getting fitted for a set of these and learning with them or am I better off buying a old set of say MP5’s / MP25’s and learning with them (but obviously not able to get them fitted) before making such an investment ?

Great video gents.

I recently got fitted by an English pro (here in Cologne, Germany) with the Mizuno swing DNA. I played JPX 825Pro irons before, and it`s just amazing how good these new MP20 MMC irons are - I have much better numbers, the ball flies further, the ballfight is stronger and they are a pleasure to hit. Spinnumbers are good which depends on different factors. The fitting: The swing DNA suggested three shafts, and it was the shaft which was recommended as no. 2 which was great for me (Project LZ 6.0). It was interesting to see that the shaft which was no.1 (True Temper) did not really convince the pro in terms of spin numbers, so the swing DNA is a great tool to find three possibly very good shafts for your game in minutes but it is important to compare the three suggestions. It is a great and totally convincing tool because there are just so many shaft options. Shaft no.2 is a super shaft for my swing! Played with the set today and am just angry that I haven't changed clubs earlier.

Whereas the Titleist CB has carved out a clear market in terms of being a desirable club, this specific Mizuno club, for whatever reason (the looks), just doesn't do it for me. If you look at what they did with their new Left Combo set, their direction with pairing it with the HMB shows what their internal marketing and sales people think of it as well. The HMB is going to be a blockbuster for Mizuno because of the looks, whereas from a performance perspective this is a good club - but it is the ugly duckling sitting between two prom queens in the MB and the HMB. I would wager $1 that the arrival of the HMB will do more for the sale of blades than any marketing campaign in history - the HMB is going to make people buy and play blades again - and then hit the HMB (fake blades) when they need help. Making Blades Great Again.

Mark Crossfield Look forward to it, but here in beautiful NZ golf course heaven it will be 6am. About time the muppets did a NZ special at premium NZ courses like Kinloch, Tara Iti, Cape Kidnappers, Milbrook, The Hills or any of the 480 other courses👍

were you trying to feed your video partner an opinion on the sound? I saw your other video where you say you try to feed cliches and see if the person just automatically agrees. This guy disagreed with you. Did he pass the test? lol
