I just added the HMB 2 & 3 iron to my bag instead of a hybrid and a 5 wood. They're absolutely amazing clubs and do a spectacular job replacing the outgoing clubs. FWIW, my 4-9 are JPX 921 Mizuno Tour. Great bag I've put together in the irons so far. Need some new wedges now.

I’ve hit both a couple of times, and i found the mmc just as easy to hit as the hmb. Im a high ball hitter so the mmc ball flight suited me better. I’m a 22 handicap but had no problem hitting them.

@johnk.atchley5079 Жыл бұрын
Just saw this as I am considering a pre-owned set of MP20 MMCs. Immediate reaction is what a great smooth swing this guy has, he is no mid-handicapper. Then he says probably 8 to 10. The average male handicap in the US is 14. A player in the 8 to 10 range is in the top 25 to 34%. The way he hits it, I think he could be below 8 if he played at all regularly. Anyway, after trying the MP 20 MMC irons today in a hitting bay with launch monitor, I would agree with the previous viewer with a 22 handicap who said he found the MMC as easy to hit as the HMB. I have a 17 handicap. I think a lot may depend on the shafts. The pre-owned set I am looking at has Nippon NS Pro Modus 3 120 gram shafts in R flex. The flex could be the secret, as over the past year I found that 120 gram stiff Royal Precision Rifle Lite shafts in my forged blades were getting to be too much (I am 82). I had replaced those with very light Nippon NS Pro Zelos 8 stiff shafts weighing only 87.5 grams, which helped increase swing speed but may have been a touch too light. The other thing that helps is my current forged blades have weak lofts, 34 degree 7 iron, while the MP20 MMC is 32 degrees.

I have played 1998 Mizuno T-Zoid Pro irons for 20 years , now on my 2nd set of F,S+L (T-Zoid pro 2 due to non availability of early ones in immaculate order)wedges due to wearing out the originals, but the rest of them ,1 iron to PW (yes I have 13 irons) still very good, currently saving hard to move to the MP-20 . Main thing is shaft choice , I know what I need from a mizuno iron , Fitting is essential it would seem to get the engine right now my swing speed has dropped by 25% since my late 30's. If you need a 4 handicap senior subject for a further test , I am your man !!! and you can have my 1 iron as a "trophy" :)

Ian - in terms of blending Mizuno irons would you ever consider blending models that are farther apart in terms of design intent than other options, say the HMB and JPX 919 Hot Metal irons, and how would you approach that? Would the 919s be the longer irons (seeking more forgiveness in those clubs), with the HMBs being, say, the 6 through pitching wedge? Or the other way around, given the extra distance that the Hot Metals seem to deliver?

Jermane Hoowse I tried this 7 years back. Started using an old Mizuno blade 6 iron on the range. Tells you on every hit if you sweet spot it or not.
