I am 5 but shoot lower if my driver is working. My question which or how different is the MP20 to My MP’s?? Than you for your feed back🙏🏼🙏🏼

Thanks for the comment Louie. The key difference will be the very thin copper coating on the MP-20's, this hasn't been part of a Mizuno iron since the late 80's. Some will argue that improves feel, but obviously feel is subjective. Might be worth saying if Mizuno continue to work on a two year product cycle the MP-20's are due for replacement this summer.

Question. I’ve been playing the 919 Hot Metals for a year and that was my first year of golf. I’ve grown tremendously and just feel like the Hot Metal is holding me back. I strike the ball well and consistent but am wondering if maybe I should move to the 919 Forged or MP20 HMB ? I’ve played my father in laws MP-64 and hit them well. I know a proper fitting is key but any recommendations from you guys ?

Hi guys, thanks for the insight on the MP-20, great video, I have a question if I may. Would the HMB be good for a 16 handicap, unable to get good height on longer irons, can work a ball (sometimes without trying), 65 years young and have Mizuno irons on my bucket list. Thanks in advance.
@todaysgolfer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Stephen, sure you can appreciate it's really difficult answering questions knowing nothing about your game? What is it that attracts you to the HMB? Are you thinking along the lines you want a forged feel but want to maximise ball speed/distance? As to whether the iron suits you a lot depends on your own ball striking ability. If Mizuno had the same question, they'd probably say a typical 16 handicapper probably wasn't the target golfer for the HMB, but that doesn't mean they can't work for you. Best advice would be to give them a try, as they are quite a small club head. Not sure if you're aware but new Mizuno irons are due very soon, it might well be worth waiting and seeing the new 'Forged' model before buying something else.

I must have watched almost every review of these irons and this one was the best one. Great info on history and comparison to other recent Mizuno irons! I’m looking at a combo set of MB pw to 8, mmc 7-5, HMB 4-3. Do you know if Mizuno recommends adjusting the lofts? And it so, would you adjust mmc, HMB to MB, the other way around? And why? Thanks guys!!!
@todaysgolfer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the comment and feedback Stefan, very much appreciated. Yes Mizuno will adjust lofts for you. it might take a bit of time to get them absolutely spot on for gapping your game, but be patient, it's well worth the effort. We'd recommend working with a good fitter. And work purely on gapping and don't be concerned about matching loft gaps between each club. It depends on what you're looking for from your irons as to which way you go with lofts. Just don't adjust the MB's in the short irons so much you end up changing sole bounce. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

How does the MP-20 MMC compare to an earlier, similar-appearing club the MP-59?
@garrettanderson44934 жыл бұрын
Hey Simon, I am shopping a new iron set and am now between the JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro and the MP-20 HMB. I know I would benefit from the extra ball speed that comes with the JPX 921 HMP, but wow how much better does the MP line look? So my question is, as a golfer who is currently a 12-13 handicap but pretty consistent with ball striking (the chipping and short game are the added strokes more often than not); Would a club like the HMB be a club that would be a good fit and be useful as I progress and keep improving my game or would more of a game improvement iron like the JPX Hot Metal Pro be a better choice. How much should the look play into my buying choice, should you love the look of the clubs you buy? Thanks for the videos and feedback!

Thanks for the comment Garret, very much appreciated. Looks and how emphasis you put on them are really down to the individual. Personally I'd much rather have performance stacked in my favour, but I don't believe in making the game harder than it needs to be, which is a mistake so many people make. It's a lovely choice to have Tommy, to be honest you won't make a bad choice going either way. All the sets you mention will have the same shelf life expectancy, both are very solid choices. What's the difference in performance or type player between the HMB and the JPX Forged?
@todaysgolfer5 жыл бұрын
The pair are really closely matched Matt. Here's a link to the Mizuno iron spec comparison table. golf.mizunoeurope.com/irons-comparison-table/ For us the decision will likely come down to how some golfers will accept the fast face tech of the HMB whilst others won't. Some golfers insist the tech brings inconsistencies (not something we've really found during testing). Mizuno do talk a little about face flex with the JPX919 Forged, but essentially the face is made from the same material and in a single piece with the irons body. HMB isn't, and the selection, in part at least, of the face material (chromoly steel) comes down to its springy nature. Hope that helps.

Hi I really need your help I’ve just had a fitting and found two clubs I virtually hit the same which are the Mizuno 919 hot metal and the taylormade sim os both are extra stiff shaft which is a big jump from the regular I have now, which goes to show a fitting is a must with clubs as I’ve gain 20-30 yards in distance, I’m a 18 handicap in your view which is the better club for me any info would be great. Ps the Mizuno are £50 more for the 5-pw
@todaysgolfer4 жыл бұрын
Which do you prefer? Remember the TM SIM Max OS have very strong lofts (the #7 is 27deg) so make sure you can flight shots, without dropping a ton of backspin and achieve a good shot height and descent angle so shots will stop on a green. If we can't see that in numbers we'd be inclined to look at the Mizuno's. The X flex shafts are they the KBS Max which come as standard in the TM SIM Max OS?
@mckenna19764 жыл бұрын

We've done zero testing with the U510 Scott, so really difficult to comment. out of interest why are you thinking these two? Have you also considered the TM P790 UDI and Ping Crossover? The Srixon went through a period of being tiger most played utility on tour too.

@@todaysgolfer First of thank you for the quick reply! I have considered the other two but I don't think they are as forgiving as the HMB and U510, I love the look of both of them yet is the Mizuno a more standard Iron (which looks amazing) whereas the U510 is a real crossover between an iron and hybrid. I'm not playing with drivers or woods at the moment therefore I'm maybe leaning a bit more towards the U510. I'm now playing with titleist AP2 712 3-P with a S300 shaft and just love them. The results for the 919 Tour look odd - lot less back spin then any other iron in the MIzuno range. Not saying they are wrong, just that they jump out as looking odd. I am not a Cat 1 player, not even close, but the 919 Tour was an incredibly easy club to hit although the 5i was small enough to scare me. I am really interested in the comparison between the HMB & MMC. Looking at the results it does beg the question does the performance of the HMB making the MMC redundant? HMB launched higher, spun a little more, had a steeper descent angle yet went the same distance. The results would seem to make the HMB just a little better and more controllable than the MMC.
@todaysgolfer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Justin, we were a bit puzzled by the JPX919 Tour numbers too. We ran the test several times bu the outcome was similar results. Only thing that's different with the tour was the Modus shaft in our test sample, which Neil doesn't seem to be well suited too. Yes the numbers are similar for MMC and HMB but experience says there will be plenty of golfers who (rightly or wrongly) don't believe fast faced irons like the HMB deliver the consistency they need from shot to shot. Ping have a similar thing with i500 and i210, TaylorMade with M5 and P790. Essentially performance is similar but whilst some golfers will accept fast face tech (and possibly a stronger loft) brings some speed and distance benefits to their game, others will prefer what they perceive as more consistent 'traditional' cavity/construction irons. Hope that helps.

Hi guys.. I've been playing the JPX 850 for some years now, and I've grown to hit them quite consistently well. If I'm looking to step up my iron play, which is better? The MP 20 MB or JPX 919 tour? I tried the JPX 919 forged and didn't like it.. felt like it grew in size and topline got thicker. Tried 919 tour the other day and they felt pretty good, but left no impressions to me.
@todaysgolfer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question David, the step from JPX850 or JPX850 Forged to MP-20 MB or JPX919 Tour is a sizeable one. The only true way to know is to go and hit each model for yourself, and obviously get fitted for which ever set you prefer. If you're concerned about top line size MP-20 MMC could be worth looking at, as they're just 1mm wider than the MB (which has the thinnest top edge of any recent MP iron), and you obviously get more forgiveness too.

Can you make a close comparision between mp 20 hmb vs 919 forged. They seem to belong in the same category player distance irons. But which one is more forgiving and has a bigger/smaller profile?
@simondaddow5 жыл бұрын
Rey Ocampo Completely understand your thinking Rey. We are just starting work on our 2019/20 forged iron review where we look pretty much at all the forged irons on the market, we'll have a look at this then. Gut feel would be HMB is seen by Mizuno as more of a fast faced distance iron, to go up against TaylorMade P790, Ping i500 and Titleist T200, where JPX 919 Forged is much more of a traditional forged cavity back. Brands seem to like to have a fast faced (often hollow body) iron in their lineup, but are well aware some golfers swear they lack consistency, hence why there's often appears to be overlap of a couple of models.
@todaysgolfer5 жыл бұрын
@@reyocampo33 There's a good table in the link below Rey. golf.mizunoeurope.com/irons-comparison-table/ Both irons are very closely matched in terms of specs. For some though the JPX919 Forged which is created from the same steel as Mizuno's MP irons will swing them towards the Forged. Others will want fast faced tech, a hollow body construction, and even though they know the HMB isn't forged from the same steel as Mizuno's MP line, they'll be happy to play a Mizuno iron with tech built in. Just different ways of seeing an issue really and identifying what's most important to you. HMB are lovely though.

@todaysgolfer5 жыл бұрын
Good question, but it's probably one that you can only answer yourself, as you know how much money you're happy to spend. For us, we probably wouldn't team JPX irons with a half set of MP irons, they're just different looking and the finishes don't match, but you might be happy with that look. From memory JPX900 Forged doesn't have the HD forging which 919 does, so you might be able to feel a difference going to 919 Tour. If you can afford it and want a new set of iron's the perfect solution would be looking at MP-20's and possibly going for a split set of MB and MMC? Hope that helps.
