In this video we review the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro Carbon Plate Marathon racing shoe. As a Non Elite runner I wanted to give my verdict on this new carbon plate race day shoe and let you know how I have been getting on with it!

Great to hear your oppinions on supershoes. I consider myself a happy to just enjoy running and attend races kind of person. But I do geek out over shoes and want to run in the latest tech just to see where things are at

I currently run in Saucony and I like this brand, but I must admit Mizuno has been my first proper pair of running shoes, when I've started to do some "serious" running (down in 1999). Because of the technology used, were always chunkier compare to the other running shoes (Wave Rider were 340g in 1998). It's good to see that after a lot of other experiments (Prophecy 380g), they decided to use the same material of the competitors (Pebax and plate - though it's 70% nylon and 30% carbon), with a "nearly" brand new design (aka MBT/Skecher rocking shoes), keeping finally the weight down (256g).

Thanks so much for this review, Chris. This was so helpful for me not to come anywhere near this shoe. I don't need a shoe to run like a maniac, Vaporfly is good enough if I ever feel or wish to do that. I will just stick with my Adidas Pro 3 or Alphafly 1. These 2 work for me for almost anything. Both fantastic. Why to spend money for something I need as much as a third eye in my head?

Superb stuff Fordy and everything I have read in test reviews a month or so ago says the same thing - is a shoe for banging it out and so for me would only be right for a 10k or a half. Might have to wait and see if they come down in price over the months to come, but loving the sound of them and esp in that colourway. Sportshoes have it online today for £199 but only in the other colourway so far. Want those paint spill camo ones though - beauties !

May take a look if there's a bargain to be had on this one towards the end of the year or next year. Guessing dependant on feel that I could maybe risk them at Marathon distance as aim MP similar to what you say is your Half pace. Will keep an eye out for further reviews on this.

Great review Chris! I still can't get over the Alphafly v1 and I'm hearing everywhere that this shoe actually feels very-very similar (or between the VF and the AF, as you say) so I'm dying to lay my hands on it, buuuuut I'm really worry about the size and, since I live in Bolivia, I don't have the chance to return the shoe. Now, you say they're snug but is it snug enough to size up? For instance, Thomas from BITR said that the shoe fits perfectly underfoot so sizing up would change that feeling (although he considers it seriously snug). I'm planning to use them for a marathon so sizing is kind of a big deal. Thanks!

Good review. Will give it a swerve. I midstrike normally but will heelstrike when tired so this one not for me I feel. I like the look and sound of it, but I'll sit this one out!

Does the mizuno feel more stable that the pro 3? I had issues with the pro 3 rolling inwards on me compared to the alpha 1 which are my all time favourite

Good timing on the review. I can't decide to get this or saucony pro 3. Mizuno priced it pretty good and actually lower than the pro 3 here in Australia. Can this thing punch out pbs on parkrun and 10k races?

You have been very modest when you say that this shoe is snug. I think it is really small. I usually wear size 11, sometimes 11.5, but with this one I have to go with a 12 one.

Unisex sizing seems to usually be odd sizing. Superblast being the exception.

Think I’m going to get a pair, “careful with sizing” does that mean go up a half size? I’m 9.5 in everything, even when KZbinrs say go up or down but never had a mizuno shoe b4, cheers

Depends if your normal 9.5 UK equals to a EU 44.5 like Nike do or or like New Balance and Adidas then the EU 44.5 is a UK 10 as mizuno size guide has the UK 9.5 as a EU 44 and the UK 10 as a EU 44.5. Hope this helps and makes sense with the numbers.

Rich, my daily slogs are UK9.5 Wave Inspires. I have UK10 in Rebellion and Rebellion Pro. The Pro's are narrower that the Rebellions, but I wouldn't go any bigger.

Running shoes I'm usually uk 10.5 You said it snug. I'm looking at using it for half's to marathon distance. Just brought a pair and the shop have asked if I want the uk 11s instead. Can I get your thoughts please?

Definitely size up 👍 otherwise the stiff area around the toe bumper may cause you issues. I sized up and no real heel slip or anything even with my thinnest socks..

Thanks for the heads up 👍 received mine today from there £169.99 paid with the 15% code. Just tested on treadmill and in the gym this evening. Look forwards to getting some proper miles on them this coming week and maybe a Half race next weekend. Very impressed and think that they might end up on my feet for Copenhagen Marathon. Pretty sure it will be between these and the Endorphin Elites if they ever turn up. Seem like a cross between Alphafly v1 and Metaspeed Sky (the two shoes all my PBs are in) but with more comfort.

MAJOR FOMO: Been waiting for this review , launches in 3 days I believe (std colour) , makes me sick that I can't pick up a pair , apparently I have enough shoes??! what is that about. anyway tried this out for 10 minutes on the dreadmill at the running show .. I liked the wow factor. But like you the rational mind would kick in , this is not for me and I have my £200 limit which this currently breaks. I hade first generation and mine broke after five runs. No one longer than 20K. I am not heavyweight I am definitely not a heal striker. Those shoes are really fast. But there is something wrong with midsole materials and also that curved sole doesn’t helped to longevity.
