Sailing Canary Islands - #1: La Palma

After my successful arrival on La Palma I have a look at Santa Cruz. The next day I am sailing to Puerto de Tazacorte. I take a rental car and drive to the volcano San Antonio, to the mountain Roque de los Muchachos and visit the impressive observatories.

Ich lebe seit über 30 Jahren auf Teneriffa und da ich mit dem Gedanken spiele, vielleicht in meinen alten Tagen noch das Segeln anzufangen, habe ich mal nach Videos über Segeln auf den Kanarischen Inseln geschaut. Sehr schönes Video! Freut mich, daß Sie soviel Spaß in meiner Wahlheimat hatten. 👍🏼😉

Hallo! Just a question. Have watched several of your films, and love them. Why don't you use a windmill for electric power? I'm sure more people have asked in other videos maybe.

Good question. It was personal preference, which I based my initial decision on not to go for it. But when I looked at it again, I found the price very high for what I would get. My power production concept is based on solar panels in combination with a Honda Genset with the engine as back-up. I bought the little genset on Martinique and used it on the cruise back to Helgoland.

Please NEVER wrap the lines around your hand!! It's very dangerous. If it should happen that the sail pulls harder than you can hold it, you can't let go of the line, and the result is that your hand will be crushed against the winch.
