Oh that's a stunning aquarium. You're getting close to "dream aquarium" territory with this one. I can only hope, I can have that nice of a large planted tank one day. Stunning! It's also lovely to see when an aquarium is automated. It can be costly, but the stability and reduced physical maintenance is amazing. Especially when you're looking at larger aquariums, sensitive inhabitants, and a higher overall costs. I personally run auto-water change and an ATO, and it's a game changer in how I enjoy the hobby, as I really hate water changes and regularly forget to do them.

I finally found a fellow fishlover that filtrates like me- My 675 liter custom ordered aquarium has Eheim classic xxl, fone sponge, than only biolocial all the way, then I have 2 Fx6 filyers, but not setup at all as you get them.! I want to keep wild discus in there, but I want tochnage to a 200 liter sump, with maybe 140 liter that is active. And the filtration I have on now, people call me insane. O would like more. I also have pothos, a huge peace lilly and kaladium plant growing with the roots in the water! Nice to meet you, Hahaha

I used to have a 300 litre tank with seven - second-generation Wattleys, but as you said, that wasn't big enough. They would always fight the weakest one so that he got stressed out and eventually died. It's almost like they took turns to die, very discouraging. But I also made a big beginner's mistake by putting the tank across from a big window, which probably added to their stress. Next time I know to go bigger on the tank and not to put it across from a window. Your tank is absolutely beautiful and so are your fish. Thanks so much for sharing!

Aah, this is such an aspirational aquarium! I kind of don't want to do the work but if I ever decide I'm up for it, I think discus are absolutely gorgeous and I already have neon tetras and corys because they're my favorite (though I have 9 and 4, I'd love to have 50 and 15)!

That's one amazing discus tank. As someone that has kept both wild discus and tank bred discus then I would just disagree with him on the tank size minimum except if it is about for 10 wild discus. You can have smaller tank (200-300 litre) but of course fewer discus like 5-6 and not many other fishes.

I've got a 680 litre discus planted aquarium at home. I think the most challenging part of keeping discus with plants is the temperature but also needing to keep your Nitrate low which doesn't benefit the plants. I've also learnt that having a big aquarium you should keep your waterchanges less than 50% because it stabilises the eco system. A lot of the discus owners on the old forums say to do 80% waterchanges but I would highly recommend not doing that unless you got some water that's been adjusted to your aquarium like Kire. I think keeping Discus is beautiful and fun but it should be avoided if you want to grow a crazy planted tank.
