you should do a maintenance and update video on this tank. one of the hardest things with discus is to controlling the algae due to lights and temperature. would love to see how you guys keep it all in check and the work required.

I've followed aquascaping for over twenty years now. This particular setup is nothing short of extraordinary! The dynamic had smooth, flowing lines, and the one thing that is paramount to keeping happy, healthy Discus: A place to hide and avoid the direct light. Your choice of plants were spot on and lend themselves perfectly to a scene which is serene and soothing. Very well done!

Well Tommy... I'd say you've out done yourself, but then I tend to think that about all your scapes, until i see the next. Such a beautiful tank to showcase such beautiful fish. Many kudos. Take a bow

I too am baised! Thank you for the inclusion of a planted discus scape. I have a 90gal discus aquascape and love it more with each passing day. It may be restrictive for sure when it comes to plants, but is very possible! I have a variety of anubias and crypts in mine at 85F (29.4C) and they all thrive under a Fluval 3.0 at 12% output. We too have a school of Rummynose, as well as Harlequin Rasboras, 15 corydoras of many varieties, German Blue Rams and a few others. Each and every night we sit down and watch the tank after the room lights are turned off - it's our favorite part of the evening. The tank will be 7 months old next week and has grown so much! I have some early videos of it on my youtube channel, I suppose I should update it:)

That does it! I'm setting up my 120 now front I picked up on marketplace free last year. Been holding off because I'm slowly collecting everything and wasn't sure if I wanted to go back to African cichlids as I've kept and breed em almost 35 years now but contemplating discus and after seeing the video I'm sold. Discuss it is. So far I've gone from nothing to getting a 120 now front and a fluval fx6 and an ehiem pro 4 all free. Only thing left is a stand which I'll make and a few other things which I'll buy now that I'm ready to set up The 2 filters are practically new which is great and the tank is flawless. Never had a jebo tank but I've read mixed reviews. Guess I'll find out. Your video gave me so many ideas i wanna run out and get everything now. Thanks for kicking me into gear. Discus are definitely going to be my new tank inhabitants. I also have 2 wave makers given to me with the tank and wondered if anyone would suggest I use em with the discus?? I'm thinking about buying some pidgeon bloods to start. Any suggestions on how many if I go small to start and does anyone have thoughts on clown coaches as tank mates? I'd like some bottom dwellers and a few top swimmers as I'm told discus are mid swimmers and quite timid Also thoughts on my filters? Never had any of the two I was given. Their practicality new in boxes with filter medium included. Anyone have real world reviews? Again.... your video just got me back into the game! Cheers!.

Beautiful scape! I wanted to know when did you introduce the fishes after setting up the tank? Since you added Amazonia, it generally leaches Ammonia into the water column which can be problematic for the Discus fishes. Secondly, can you please talk about how are you remineralising the RO water for this tank? Are you using CO2 injection for this tank? Did you face algae or diatom issues as tanks maintained at higher temperatures generally do so. Are you using any particular filter media like carbon or purigen?

The Iron wood hardscape is awesome to go along with the ferns and anubis. The clarity that this tank is generating is stunning. The problems with maintenance with discus tank is that these fish demands pristine fresh water which can be only be done through constant water changes including siphoning the heavy detritus accumulation that these fishes produce. Also discus feeding pattern is somewhat different from other fishes which includes beef heart which can significantly increase the ammonia levels in the water parameters. So water changes are predominant and frequent. Do the water needs to be aged and heated ( to match the temperature of the tank water ) before any water changes?
