Sardine is a phenomenal bait. I chop up my used sardine into 1 to 2 inch chunks (when it starts falling apart) and use it as groundbait when i"m fishing in close in or on the canal. I find makes a difference attracting more fish into the swim

Ahhh interesting, it’s the first time I’ve ever used it and boy did it work!! I will certainly be using it again, if Cris hasn’t eaten it all lol

@mjbooth1000 I've never eaten it fresh but I've heard it is lovely. You can also get ready frozen kilo bags from fishmongers if the supermarket is out of stock. they are slightly bigger but don't stay on the hook quite as well but are still very effective. Its my go to bait for pike. Lamprey is also good and can be reused time and time again but it's expensive. ( I refreeze mine)

Can be a tick and midge hell when its as calm and damp, but some good fishing all the same. Will maybe have to give this fishing lark a go one day! But may be a wimp and wear gloves 😆 I knew deer could swim over to the islands but ive never actually seen it......nice one.
