People used to change their clothes multiple times a day depending on what they were doing/where they were going. They’d dress to the 9’s for dinner in their own home! (I know why this stuff was done but from a sheer fashion perspective) It’s sad to see that we care so little nowadays that we’ll go out in almost anything, to anywhere. @@lyric2439 I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that mental health is "ignored in law enforcement" but that is not an accurate statement. How many inmates do you know to come to such an untrue statement? Once an inmate is incarcerated they almost always ask for drugs to "calm them down" or ask for something to help them sleep. Since LE by definition doesn't do that a psych eval is conducted and/or the local mental health agency is called in. For the record it is really hard to get a differential diagnosis between schizophrenia and many perps who had their brain rewired by taking illegal drugs because the symptoms are often the same. The mental health professionals are trained to know the difference and the inmate is treated accordingly.

@@tater60 the Judge's assessment was regarding this defendant's behaviour, rather than any specific Bipolar symptoms. I've worked in prison medical centres- we handed out Valium a lot. It was never counted either. This guy was 100% "selfishly seeking attention". I'll bet your relative actually suffered the symptoms of Bipolar. This guy knew just how far to push the envelope in all his behaviours. For maximum drama, effect and trouble for the officers, with minimum problems for himself. He would have been a drug seeker. His "problems" come from his personality- maybe an antisocial personality disorder at most- except he had full agency and decision making skills when he caused trouble. His own family are sick of his lies and manipulation, and he's visiting all of this now on prison staff, who are not allowed to react, only subdue. But he didn't need subduing- he was only being an as*hole. As a registered nurse I came across people who really suffered mental illness and my heart went out to them. This guy is a young, healthy, energetic pain in the ass, trying the staff at every turn and leaving big messes for them to clean up. He would have been the one causing havoc amongst other prisoners with manipulative behaviour and he would be seriously unpopular wherever he went, needing protection. He uses up prison resources and then does the bare minimum to behave or rehabilitate himself two days before trial. You can't compare the two. Even oppositional defiance disorder sufferers have it worse.

Attorney Varga had to be incredibly relieved to get this pain in the backside case and client behind him; and 2) the entire jail staff and Sheriff's Department will be having an epic party just after Jenkins crosses the Cheboygan county line on the way to prison. The only cherry on the Sundae would be if the California dude got shipped off to the old maximum security prison in Marquette on the sunny shores of Lake Superior. Happy to see the Judge give Attorney Varga due recognition for doing a solid job in mitigating the damage despite his client's best efforts to get himself the maximum prison time possible. Sort of a role reversal on the classic "Just pay the two dollars" vaudeville comedy routine.

Like you ruined someone’s life/many lives, but we’re going to make sure you’re ok…. Um, what?! And it’s usually not because it’s an accident it seems to be because they want to get the case over with faster.

I think it is a matter of economy. There isn't enough prison capacity, prosecutor capacity, court capacity to bring all cases to trial and conviction with prison time. So the courts as well as the people are more than happy to get a quick resolution whenever they can, with no trial and god forbid appeal. Victim's advocate should be part of the plea bargain process up to possibly have a veto right in severe cases.

I used to get myself in all kinds of trouble in my younger years. Watching these vids makes me glad I got my act together and turned my life around. One time in court a girl ahead me was wearing overalls with one strap undone and a really tight shirt accentuating her chest region. The judge f'n snapped! He made her button up and continued to reem her out. When it was my turn I immediately apologized for wearing a Tshirt. Another time I maxed out a state case [PA] and I had a warrant for my home county. I walked up front filled with joy that I was going home, only to be met by a constable that took me into custody at the front lobby of the prison and took me to county jail for the warrant. And it was a Friday so I sat until Monday until the judge was in, however the judge dropped the 60 days they was gonna give me and just gave me a hefty fine on a payment plan. P.S. Don't Go To Jail....👍
