When Robert is walking with Teri, he talks about another book he just started reading (it's 'Don Quixote') about a "guy who thinks he's a knight, only he lives in a world where knights don't exist anymore." That is what Robert is. A knight in a world where people need rescuing. Denzel is a legend. I love his portrayal of this character. Can't wait for the new movie coming out on the 1st. In the 1980's television show this is based on, a mysterious British man who used to be an agent advertises that he will help people who can't get help anywhere else. Each week, he has a different client with a problem that he helps them solve, usually with violence. He doesn't work alone -- he has a younger American assistant and sometimes brings in experts in specific fields. At the end of Equalizer 1, Robert has evidently decided to start helping people in a similar manner, and Equalizer 2 will continue that story.

So on a positive note, I like to say this. Denzel Washington comes from the city of Mount Vernon, New York. It is the same city that I grew up in. He makes us very proud to represent the city of Mount Vernon, New York. He never takes for granted where he's from. He always represents the city. We have a lot of talent from the city of mount vernon in different genres, whether it's actors, musicians, professional athletes, but denzel stands above them all. He makes a so proud.

This movie is great & one of my favorite action films. The sequel is great too. I think you both should add Training Day to your list with Denzel. It won him one out of his 2 Oscars. Also make sure when you watch Rambo: Last Blood to watch the Extended Cut.

kinda true. the bad guys rule this world... but not completly. someone good stands against the tyrants once in a while.. but not anymore. used to be. i guess if there is an ending.. is not that far i am afraid

Probably the youngest you are likely to see Denzel is in "Glory," a movie about the American Civil War. When you saw "Man on Fire," Denzel was 10 years younger than he is here in "The Equalizer." And in the new Equalizer movie, he'll be almost another 10 years older than he is here. Denzel has had an acclaimed career, but personally I like him best in "Man on Fire" and "The Equalizer." If you want to see him alongside a young Julia Roberts, there's "The Pelican Brief," and if you want to see him with a young Angelina Jolie, try "The Bone Collector." If you like heist movies, try "Inside Man."

Robert shows a more realistic type of shooting scenarios.. even if his approach against more people (still way lesser than John Wick's) has the element of surprise John on the other hand, comes from a more Assassin Fantasy type of approach.. where no matter what will happen.. the worst he will get wounded but still lives

Love this movie. Robert doesn't just do things for fun or money, but does it to help people who can't defend themselves; the innocent, the oppressed etc, even if he has to break the promise he made to his deceased wife just so he could help the people he loves. An amazing point u made there Joy, about Robert also letting legal justice to have a play in the situation like calling cops, and letting people have 2nd chances, and not just deliver his own personal justice. Robert is both a former US marine and an elite operative/assassin of, I believe, DIA, Defense Intelligence Agency. DIA is similar to CIA, but its mission objectives are on different targets, individuals, organizations etc.

Great movie. This movie is based on an old 80s tv show. The sequel is horrible . Other great movies like this are Jack Reacher. and Taken. A great Denzel movie you should see is John Que a really great drama/suspense movie.

The John Wick universe is surreal, silly and difficult to identify/connect with and therefore the movies are nothing but "dumb" action movie guilty-pleasure entertainment. Sure, even with the Equalizer series, it does push our beliefs as to what a single well-trained ex-government field officer/asset is capable of, but it still feels a lot more real and genuine. Well paced, suspenseful, mysterious, as oppose to John Wick's balls-on-the-table everyone knows who/what he is, everyone is a dangerous killer in their own right. Love Keanu but I'd pick The Equalizer series every time.

The "shipment" was probably either gasoline (into the US) or alcohol (going out). It is smuggled and then sold retail without paying taxes on the product. There was a real incident in the 1990's where the Russian mob was legally purchasing grain alcohol (95% or 190 proof) from US manufacturers (and paying US alcohol tax), then adding blue or green coloring and labeling it as either "mouth wash" or "window cleaner" and shipping it in bulk containers (200 liter barrels) to Russia. In Russia they set up a "Walter White" lab to remove the coloring, then diluted it to 50% with distilled water, bottled it, and and sold it as vodka without paying the Russian tax on alcohol. With all of the expense of shipping and processing it was still profitable when not paying the Russian alcohol tax. When the FBI and Russian FSB broke up the operation there was $1 BILLION (with a "B") in alcohol seized at the various stages of the operation.

If you're wanna see him in a movie when he was young, watch ''A Soldier's Story'' (1984), one of my favorite movies of all time, and I still haven't seen anyone reacting on it on KZbin (at least the ones I'm subscribed to). Another great movie with Denzel Washington (which also nobody reacts on KZbin) is ''Devil in a Blue Dress'' (1995). Greetings From The Netherlands.

Spoiler warning for JW4 since you already reacted to it... In JW4, John was fighting to be free of the table, but he also went through the duel for Caine and Mia as well. He was willing to go through the duel which would kill him for the sake of others and not just himself. Makes you wonder what he'd be like in JW5 if it's going to actually happen.
