For people talking about the laws on ebike vs electric motorcycle, technically an ebike doesn’t actually need to have pedals to be considered one by law however they do have a speed limit before it becomes either 1 a moped or 2 a motorcycle In the case of the bikes going about 40mph you sit in the moped category because it’s dictated by not reaching highway speeds But honestly e-bikes with pedals are able to get away with more because of the odd middle area that electric bikes set at, most police have no clue what the rules on them are and won’t even flag you for non licensed operation, however in this case he will 100% get flagged for a violation if he isn’t licensed and registered in the case a traffic violation occurs.

Likely a license WILL be needed, but it may depend on what state. Some states it can be registered as a low speed motorcycle (LSM) and can be insured.

I looked a little bit at other videos ppl getting different models and then upgrading the Regulators and battery both, achieving over a little more than your experiences on miles/MPG also. The model would be the better craft as being far more stable and built better. Would need to explore the Bt/Reg upgrades IF they would work on your model, if so that you;d be a PLUS for us to consider making it more useful on freeways and trips . Other models I viewed it seemed like about $5K would be about an overall cost on everything to achieve and good unit.

Looks legit, but once you entered on to the freeway my anxiety kicked in and would have second thought about that. I would used this bike on back roads ONLY, just for the fact that regular motorcycles get into accidents with loud mufflers and this Ebike has no sounds to warn drivers that your need by is VERY concerning for me or anyone that is interested in owning one. In the USA this would be consider a e Motorcycle and is not street legal without a license tag and the rider must have a motorcycle license. Class 1: An eBike is considered Class 1 when it has a top speed of 20 miles per hour and an electric motor that works only with pedaling (pedal assist). Class 2: An eBike will fall into Class 2 if equipped with a throttle-actuated motor. That motor must cease to assist when the eBike reaches 20 miles per hour, Class 3: A Class 3 eBike is a bicycle with a motor that provides assistance only if the rider is pedaling and should cease to assist when the eBike reaches 28 miles per hour. Class 3 eBikes are also known as pedelec bikes. Class 3 is the most restricted classification, and some states impose additional safety restrictions for riders on Class 3 cycles. Additional the limit on the motor depends on the state, the lowest is 750 watts and the highest 1,000.

I've got an Emmo (Canadian company) Zone GTS. I get 65km/hr with speed limiter disconnected. Any faster I'd have to upgrade the motor and control unit.

So I'm looking to purchase an ebike asap to drive 20 miles to and from work. The video was awesome to find. However when I go to the website all the street legal bikes they list say max speed 40mph. Is this a model they don't carry anymore? Or is the 40mph max just a boiler plate number? Yours can clearly go beyond that. I need to be able to at least go 60-65 to drive on us 19.

A year late probably too late but you can just get a newer 125cc like the mt-01 or cbr125r. 2014+ cost around 2k and fuel economy is 2.3l/100km or 102MPG. You probably need to drive a million miles to make make the electric one be worth the extra money from fuel economy

I would dis assemble the motor and coat everything in epoxy, (thin epoxy resin) to water proof it, and the magnets!!, Drill a series of 2-3mm holes in the cover, at an angle to help catch the air when moving, ahs drill holes the opposite angle in the other side, maybe 3d print a small scoop to fit on the swingarms to help scoop the air into the motor, maybe do something similar to the motor controller, depending on the design, possibly bolt on some heat sinks, and some vents to direct air into the controller! It's going to perform better when it's cooler, maybe the battery as well, be stealthy with it, not some large attachments hanging off it, and possibly look into getting a higher voltage battery, and either modify the controller, or get a larger wattage controller, the motor would need cooling imprints with more voltage, example , 14s battery over a 13s, or a 16s over a 14s, adding 3.7-7.4v can make a bit of difference, but going from 72-84v would definitely make a difference!! Up the voltage, will up the current, that will double up the wattage! That motor can probably handle 5-6, kw with cooling mods,

Buyers beware. While technically most areas do not require a license, there are conditions on that (ie maximum speeds). Once the bike is modified they technically are not legal without a license and insurance. Note: Creator has the Fly "RZ" Model in this video. Fly has it on their website, the "RZ" model requires a license to drive on roads and not recommended for highway use. 🙄🤔

5:40 withoit further watching, i can tell that the controller probably gets too hot. Same happened to me on my 1500W e-scooter. In my case, i could take the speed controller, move it from the innards behind the fairings, and mounted it on the side, like a side bag, getting fresh air from the rear tire. The problem went away after that.

If you're in Florida, any motorcycle with a wattage under 750 don't require a license. Same with California. In Maine, it is less than 500 Watts or less. Anything over that, you need a license and some you might want to look into Registration of a motorcycle even when it is electric. Of course, in Florida, motorized bicycles, whether mechanical gas powered or electric are legal in Florida, they cannot be operated on roads or sidewalks unless they meet the requirements of a moped. You might want to check further into laws surrounding what is required in your state. Each state is different.

Of course, they may change that in the future since some of those bikes have 2,000 Watts or more and go 40 to 55 mph. Heck, my son just went out and bought himself an Electric Unicycle that goes 40 to 60 mph for $5, 000. Arrrghh....kids and their toys that could kill themselves. Ever see an accident on one of those Sherman Unicycles at 60 mph? Oh...kids and their need for speed.

That information is incorrect! You need a motorcycle endorsement on any motorcycle over 3bhp or that has a top speed of over 20/30mph (legally, depending on which state). Theyll let you go if the bike does 30/40mph (depending on what state), but anything over that, you need an endorsement to ride this bike on public roads. This bike either categorizes as a motorcycle (1400+ watts, >3bhp, or >40mph), or a moped when below these values. You dont need a license to ride a moped. This is not a moped.

Be careful some of those lithium batteries catch fire! Big problems in NYC with those batteries.
