As someone who does all my own DIY/house renovation (because I have serious trust issues due to rouge traders and bad work having been done for me in the past), I really appreciate the quality presented in your videos. I'm currently planning out the renovation of a similar sized bathroom and project and have found this really helpful. Keep up the good work and good quality standards!

Excellent job! Your videos are so educational, I love them, I noticed in another of your videos you used moisture board for a shower cubicle, but here it looked like normal boards you put up, is it not necessary to use moisture board for a bath shower? I ask because I about to redo my bathroom (DIY attempt) so would be good to know if I need to do the same, or can I just get away with tiles? Cheers.

Nice video mate. What wood boards do you use for walls and floors? Thanks!
@Wattswood3 жыл бұрын
Great Video! many thanks. Can I ask you a question re the bath? As a carpenter/handyman i am often asked to re-silicone around a bath with a shower over. Many of the baths I try to seal have a great deal of flex around the edges even when the bath legs/feet are adjusted tightly / correctly. They pull away from the tiles and inevitably leak around the wall. (most are not sealed before tiling like you did) Perhaps they are cheap bath units and the better baths don't flex? Do you ever consider putting a wooden frame around the three supported edges or additional support under the outside ends to give additional support? Cheers!
@MJTiffPlumbing3 жыл бұрын
First off thanks for watching. Great question.... and yes I do put a wooden frame on some baths that don’t come with very good fixings, a lot do and if fitted correctly the bath won’t move. But some come with rubbish fixings if any, I will then put a frame under the lip exactly how you have discribed. I will video the next time I do one.... as a lot of people ask

This is a great little install vid. Similar to what I’m thinking of doing when I move the bathroom but mirror image. Was that a regular size bath though? I have to go for a 1500mm bath. Need to tape it all out on the floor first to see if it’s feasible.

Very helpful video thank you especially good for us down here in Cornwall where they want 15 grand and a week for fitting a two grand chipboard bathroom. I will quit my IT job for two days and smash out myself like I did with my kitchen. I am curious to know why you didn’t fit flooring under the toilet though ? - because it’s usually messy trying to cut flooring around the toilet that is already fitted.

Good install but you should always fill bath to top with water before siliconing to simulate the weight of a person it so it gets a good seal otherwise when you stand in the bath to have shower etc the bodyweight will drop the bath a few mm meaning water will get under the seal causing water damage and leak
@MJTiffPlumbing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video. That’s exactly right Lee..... that’s why I did that as already addressed in another comment. I always seal up first as per the video.... then fill the bath and seal again, making it a proper job. Also if the bath is dry fitted correctly and securely it won’t drop anyway.

These videos are brilliant. Im currently renovating my bathroom and taking so much vital information from you. When you came to the pipework for the radiator, how do you debur the pipe without having to drain the heating system? Or do you just drain it enough so there is no pressure in the upstairs radiators? Im rerouting the pipework so the radiator is on a different wall and I'm at this point now. Not entirely sure what the best approach is.

Very nice. Definitely taking your tip of batterning out the cistern. Was the boards tanked? Or isn't that necessary?
@MJTiffPlumbing3 жыл бұрын
SO many people don’t batten the cisterns then wonder why the flush pipe pops out and floods the bathroom when it fills up...... Not tanked, boarded and tiled. When your tiler knows what he’s doing and does it right it’s completely sealed.
