I just got my bug about 6 hours ago and did its maiden flight about 15 minutes ago (in the dark, couldn't wait). This little bugger is amazing!!! My battery looks like your mod but is only the 1800mah. For it's first flight, however, it flew for a good 15 minutes. Of course I was doing nothing fancy as I have way to many trees and other obstacles to contend with but it was impressive none the less. I can't wait to take it to the park tomorrow.

My original battery in the plastic casing keeps sliding out of the copter where its supposed to stay. May have to use a heavy duty band or something.

Just pulled out my old Bugs 3 and Bugs mini and bound them both to the Jumper T16...I forgot how much fun they were to fly. I never really liked flying the Bugs 3 with a 3s battery...too much shakin going on. Went to the T16 transmitter because I couldn't get the Taranis to arm the motors on any of my old quads. The first thing I tried was returning the Taranis to factory settings, which fixed the motor-arming problem but I had no idea that the default factory setting was mode one!! Kept getting "throttle warning" until I figured that out. Anyhow, I've been flying the the Bugs 3, Bugs Mini, Hubsan 109 and Syma X5C around for the last week after dusting them off, and having a blast! My old Hubsan H501 binds to either controller but can't get the motors to arm...still wrestling with that one.

@@FrequentFlyerRC Tried that already. Hubsan is weird that way. They still arm with going down and out with the sticks. The 109 arms without any switch assigned...just your standard CH 1234 AETR. Move sticks down and out to arm the motors. No extra channel and switch necessary.

no I wasnt frequent flier I had line of sight but there are quite a few power lines in my area have not found a good open area yet I had 3 bugs 3 with mixed body shells im going to do the 3s battery mods and the tri props only on one quad but I have to address the antenna issue first cause it will definitely get away my transmitters beeps quite a bit when ot starys to get a little higher but they are so fun to fly better than both hubsans 501 s and x4 pro different style sometimes i just like flying fast and not try to film

Hi, I’ve had my bugs 3 for a few weeks now and notice when flying i am hearing a squealing sound coming from the drone. I don’t think it’s the motors bc it doesn’t get louder the more throttle I apply. It’s annoying sound. Almost sounds electrical. Thanks in advance

Yes, larger capacity gives longer flights. But I haven't flown this quad much lately so I can't give you an exact number.

Speaking of rain, what is your opinion of the vulnerability of the motors (bearings) to flying in a light rain (drizzle)? It seems internal are pretty well protected, so my concern goes to the motors. I'm guessing the answer is don't risk the possibility of water seeping into the bearings.

I just need to learn something about Batteries...do you mean if i have a 7.4V battery and when it is charged it is at 8.6V you should fly until it gets to 7V otherwise you are killing the battery?

Hi Ryan. I posted a video on my KZbin of the Mjx bugs 3. If listed past the motors hum you will hear a high pitched squealing sound. It never stops. It doesn’t get louder the faster you go. I watch other videos on KZbin and they all make the sound. Thanks.

flew the quad last night and it drifted towards the retirement community. went down and I tried to look at landmarks because it was at night. there are a lot of plants and shrubs next to the homes., which makes it even more difficult to find. would I be able to cycle on and off the transmitter and walk around the place where I think it may be and will that cycle the lights. I've noticed that when I did get the props to turn when pushing red button as per starting the quad, if I didn't do anything with the transmitter for a few seconds the quad shuts down and goes into a sort of stasis. will this save the battery life overnight? if so... the cycling of the transmitter way work. what do you think. really bummed...only had it for three days

So my Bugs came today. Happen to have the Tenergy 2200 from the Syma X8 so I ordered the XT30 to Banana adapter. But then I realized that I have to take it in and out the the Bugs battery cage every time. If there a bigger 7.4 battery than 2200mah that you know of ? One I can can get to fit in without the Bugs battery cage ?

It starts beeping after the programmed minutes are up and the low voltage which ever hits first ..you would have to turn it off and back on to reset the timer to turn off the noise

It's a shame you can't find these drones any longer except I found the contixo f17 bundle for $129 I little expensive but I fly only the 3s 2200 mah lipos nice power I vent the canopy to cool the escs and get about a year before everything starts failing there's something different tried replacing escs motors nothing works they have done something so you have to buy a whole new drone instead of repair!??

So..... Won't flying the Battery past the beep warning ruin the battery life? (Or anything in the drone?) Or is it an internal timer on the quad to beep at certain time (till amount of energy in the original battery would normally gone) so ya can go longer safely without hurting the Quad or battery when using the 2,200 mah ? I have a Bugs 6 and just ordered a few 1,800 and a 3,000 does that mean after 12 min (usual time for 1,300 mah) I'm gonna have to hear that beep for another 8 min? lol

The quad is supposedly designed to do low voltage cutoff warning at a safe battery voltage be does seem to have a bit of a problem with larger capacity batteries. I wouldn't run it too much longer after the LVC because when I checked, I believe the battery was down passed an unsafe level. I think the culprit is the higher C rating (higher discharge rate of the bigger battery)

I had lvc at 3.8v resting voltage. punch outs do it. needs higher C batts.

I should have said 3.8v/cell. So it was an early trigger of lvc was what I meant. The punchouts take a lot out of the batts and can trigger the lvc. You're using a 35C, and if accurate, should be an improvement. Might need 45C though. At least you showed there's no need to panic when lvc kicks in - ha!

looks like yours went to lvc early like mine. when lvc hit you should have checked your voltage. cuz when mine lvc i stopped. came home and tested. it still shows battery at 53% left??? i didnt want 2 fly on lvc. u never know when it'll drop. its not cold here either. whats your thought on this? maybe the bugs stock lipo is proprietary. something the installed in the battery or something. thats my theory

Question for you big guy. I have a 3.5ah 7.4v Lithium Ion battery made by Titan. After flying it with the Bugs3 for about 1 min. It goes into low voltage warning mode. The motors,esc,battery F/C, are not even warm. I'm afraid to keep flying. Should I be concerned? What do you think? Is this happening because of the 3500mah or because it is a lithium -ion or something other? Please your thoughts. Thus battery is very light lighter than stock and so full of power would you still use it?

I think because it's lithium ion that maybe it just doesn't have enough power flow. I would stick to Lipo batts

I found the sweet spot for power size of a 3s lipo the goldbach 2200mah 3s perfect gets 55mph strong power but no flipping while cruising lost my drone over powered shot off to one side out of site.

+Topflyer well at this point it's anyone's guess which is best for it but just so you know at least 6amp ESCs are needed for 3S. I think maybe at least 12amp is needed for 4S.

after seeing your video I bought the zippy battery but you never mention that anyone who does this mod would have to purchase another charger because the charger end on the new battery is bigger and will not fit in the bugs3 battery charger end... not unless there is another adapter for that charging end

What if you attach a low voltage alarm to the battery and set it for about 7.6v? Do you think you may be able to get a little more flight time without hurting the battery? Also, what if you use a 3s battery and fly it non aggressively, do you think you'd get longer flight times? Oh, by the way, nice video showing great skills!

thx , the supplier " hobbyWow" for stock batteries. are they a reputable seller? nowhere do they say the capacity of there batteries, but it does include the case.
