Gadget Inspector I have a question for you I am having intermittent GPS signal you get eight or nine satellites then you get zero satellite even as you get higher The satellite keeps dropping off could it be the GPS module in the bugs 5W that is failing

Thanks for all the full screen video, and for the shout out in the video. I believe it looks better than the BUGS 2W, but I guess we will have to wait until you do the side by side comparison to declare a true champion. Nice range test, getting out over 300 meters is fine for a toy quad. I only average 250 meters on the B2W, and my record is 350 meters. So this seems like a slight improvement. Thanks for retesting the Waypoints feature, it seemed to work well before you lost connection and it did a RTH. It’s a shame your battery went dead before you could do a close range waypoint test. You have a done a great job of reviewing the new B5W, taking a deep drive into all the things this drone can do.

Dude awesome camera footage. Thank you for displaying this MJX Bugz 5W capabilities because I just bought one and I think I am in love with this little so called beginner drone and for the price I couldn’t believe it. I have more expensive drones. In fact way wayyyy more expensive and they don’t even have half the features this little guy has such as orbit ,follow me and my all time favorite Waypoints. I have another drone call the AEE AP-11 and I think I paid 600 USD and this stupid drone has all the fancy GPS satellites but nothing to show for it except RTH which I forgot to mention my BUGZ 5 has also. Yea so This little guy is a keeper for me. The only Gripe I have is The FPV Range is extremely short they should of put a 5.8 GHZ antenna outside the camera humble instead they built it right inside the the camera housing which in tern cripples the FPV range. I saw other videos where some guys actually jerry rigged an antenna to the one inside the camera housing but it makes the drone look ugly like a real butcher job. Another gripe I have is the 7.4 or 2s lipo this thing has when indeed this cute little thing should of had a 3s or 11.1 lipo battery which makes it slightly underpowered but definitely not a dealbreaker. Other then that this drone in my eyes and opinion for the money and value you get has an overall 9 out of 10 rating.

If you really want to take advantage of the full range of this quad, you can mount an all-in-one 5.8ghz camera on it and use a monitor or goggles. That way the FPV range will match the control range.

I also got a Bugs 3 Pro coming, it just left Hong Kong a few days ago. By the way, did you get that low resolution issue resolved with KZbin? I left several comments on that video but didn't get any replies. KZbin's going through some subtle changes and sometimes replies/responses get lost in the cracks! Somedays, I have to go into the Creator Studio and click on "community" to see all the comments that guys are leaving but I'm not getting notifications for... bummer! Thanks bro, keep 'em coming. Oh yeah, I'm trying to get the Pro too 😉, you can do more tinkering with that one. I ended up deleting that first video altogether and reposted it...kind of a hassle and man did it hurt to click delete. I saw your comments but unfortunately it must have deleted all of my responses before you got them. I don't even have that Community tab yet, it must become available at some subscriber threshold I haven't hit. KZbin has a few quirks for sure; a lot of subscribers don't even get video notifications even if they clicked the bell. I'm sure they'll get it all ironed out at some point.

Oh wow, I'm sure that hurt to have to delete & repost. When I watched it, you were well over 300 views. It's all good though, that bird is a hot topic and I'm sure you'll make it up soon. The Community Tab feature is being rolled out slowly, don't know how they picked who get's it first or not... for me it just popped up one day, but I like it. It's a quick & convenient way to reach out to your subscribers without having to post a new video... sort of like a Facebook post! Happy flying brother ("quadcopter brothers & sisters!") POW!!!

Not too many reviews on this drone yet in the U.S. Thanks for the fair review. I went ahead and ordered in a unit, I just could not pass up the price. Let us know what you think on a battery hack. I think they went with this setup so it could power the camera and drone on separate circuits while using the same battery. I bet once you get into the battery it will have a single plug that channels out to the different slots. It would be interesting to see if a 5.8ghz camera like the OnePaa could be made to mount to this drones gimbal and be powered by the drones battery too. George.

I think $150 is a great price point and it won't be that price for long, so good for you. You could totally put an All-in-One 5.8ghz camera with a little 3.7v lipo on this and use a monitor or goggles for more FPV range. I'm going to see if I can get a coupon code for the replacement batteries, because I definitely want at least one more and I know others will as well.

👀IMPORTANT NOTE: In the video I stated that you can't stop RTH; I was referring to stopping it using a stick command. On many GPS drones if you give it a throttle command or forward/backward stick input RTH will cancel. You can obviously stop RTH by pressing the RTH again on this quad.👀

I got a bugs 3 h from my daughter for fathers day. I fly plane and heli, cars, trucks, did lots of research. And picked the bug3h did all the calibrations. And flew in my house great I have a film me flying in house without my gopro, and flew great. Got my friends/family all together and still did the calibration in the road turned on my hero silver4 with a 128 gig sim set back start the motors stick up slow hover 5 foot then took to 25 feet after that I had no transmiter to the bugs3 h and it went full speed straight up and out of sight. Lost it never got to fly it. My daughter writes them. And they tell her he flew it in a tree. I never got to fly! Everything was charged. I have 5 other drones and I have a 3DR iris but wanted something fast. Liked your review of of bugs 3 and wanted attitude hold so other can fly with me. So I don't have a crashed drone from other hands. #MJX unfair, But I never got to fly it. I think they should make it right. Give me a bugs3H with a good camera and make it fair. I'm going to take a bite out of the business they have. What do you think? I'm a veteran RC hobbies.

Paul, I have never personally tested the Bugs 3H, and I steer clear of assessing drones I haven't personally flown. With that said, sometimes defective products do make it to the consumer (true for any product really) and that risk is greater when buying from offshore websites. It sounds like you're familiar with drones, so I won't pull the pilot error card on you. I would be mad too if I just bought something and lost it before being able to enjoy it. I would be livid. If where you bought it from won't do anything I can't blame you for no longer shopping there.

Hi can you help.. When I fly past 200 metres I lose fpv.. that's fine coz I can fly it with line of sight but when I watch the footage on my sd card the video freezes when I go out of range! The range shouldn't affect the sd recording.. Your recording is perfect

Good range test on this matter Gadget Inspector. Its a bit pitty that the Bugs does not work with earth (read: geocache) coordinates so you could define exactly where to fly on a map. Defining a waypoint the way it goes right now is a very nice option though. Subbed your channel and thanks for publishing these tests and findings.

Thanks for the sub Robby. I'm going to do another test of the waypoint function on a full battery. I want to see if it will actually compete the flight plan even if it disonnects from the controller. I think it disconnected in this flight because it hit its first LVC and was greater than 300-meters. If I don't do another video I'll probably just add a comment about it. Thanks again!

I Dig those legs on that thing. Anyway... Looks solid in hover, too. Camera looks very good to me. Now... a WiFi extender is often key to making these WiFi drones usable at distances that are acceptable to me. On another subject... You’re Cool, man! Always enjoy your quad videos!!

Flight times can vary based on a number of conditions, but yeah I was surprised by the short flight. It was incredibly humid that day though. I typically get about 12-minutes, but I definitely need to get another battery.

Come to SW Louisiana! ;) I take my Bugs2w straight up to 65-100 meters altitude before cruising around..I can usually keep a live feed signal to right at 300 meters, unless I get behind a tree..kills it every time..line of sight for me with good, polarized glasses right at 1000 feet on a good day...Happy Flying!

The polarized glasses is actually a great tip, thanks for sharing that. As long as my bird doesn't get stuck in a tree, I can deal with them 😉. And you're right, getting up in altitude also helps reception.

Could be. You know what I think happened on this day is the very high humidity. It was super thick. So, I've tested it on a windy day and on high humidity days and that's when I had the shortest flight times. Otherwise I'm getting 12-minutes or so. How long are your flights on average?

It does have pretty powerful brushless motors, but I'm not real sure it could carry a GoPro. Something smaller like those flat Mobius Mini type cameras would work though.

Good work G.I.! How would you compare photo snapshot quality to the B2W. It's hard to find actual photo specs but I did see somewhere that this can take an 8mp photo, true?

I honestly can't tell the difference between the two, but I filmed a comparison of the B5W and the B2W. I just have to edit the video. I'll put up side by side comparisons in that video. Advertised photo quality is 8MP. The photos look pretty good to me, but I don't have a way to corroborate how many mega-pixels it actually is.

When you look at the file properties on a pc they'll be 2 sets of numbers you'll want to compare. Image size, for example 1920 x 1080. And then dpi (ppi) which can be anything... for example 96, 180 or 340

A little FYI on my question to you.. I emailed MJX and confirmed that the photos are 1920 x 1080 or 2 Megapixel. Deceptive on their part as the web brochure clearly advertises it as 8 Megapixel... smh....🙈🙉🙊

Gionni C It really is a shame that we have to be skeptical about how these drone companies market and advertise. They are better off just being honest. The photos actually look better than 2MP so they probably didn’t think anyone would notice. It didn't click initially about the 1080p translating into 2MP photos, so you're right. I hate when they do stuff like that. Good detective work by the way.

Unfortunately it won't work with the Bugs because the repeater uses 2.4ghz and the Bugs is 5.8ghz. They do sell 5.8ghz repeaters, but they're hard to find.

It may not have 5G. The 5W transmits a 5G wifi signal so you need a compatible phone.

It appears that although a great drone the camera actually only shoots 1280x720 video and not 1080p and a mear 1136x640 photo's, so less than 1 megapixel

I believe you can fly it without a phone, but you won't have the fpv feed or any of the automated features. But everything else should work just fine.

My unscientific opinion is that the B2w is a little faster because it’s a little heavier. Once it gains momentum it may generate more speed. I think they both move pretty good though.

If you set up a dual band (2.4ghz/5ghz) wifi repeater plugged into a USB power bank, you may get better wifi FPV range. Fellow youtube channel (Quadcopter 101) shows several vids on how to extend RC quadcopter wifi range using the Xiaomi Mi wifi range extender.

Yep, I haven’t had a chance to try a repeater yet. They’re fairly inexpensive as well. Probably not a bad accessory to have in the toolbox. That may be a good idea for a part 5 video 😉.

It didnt return to home because it lost connection, It returned because when the first Low Voltage kicks in, you are flying over 300 meters ,outside the low battery geofence ,thats why it returned to home and this video confirms that you might have a defective battery

You know what, you might be right after I watched this again. It was hard to tell while I was flying and filming because it also lost connection from the drone at the same time, but I think you're right. I still don't think the battery is defective though. It was extremely humid and there was several minutes of full pitch flying. I'm planning on getting another battery, so I guess we'll know for sure then.

Just tested out my bugs 5w, Im disappointed, Whenever I activate return to home, it descends way too fast, Which causes it to enter vortex ring state, And losing its balance and smashing onto the ground. And I return to home again, Its descending fast, But able to gain balance, Return to home again ! Boom, Another smack on the ground. Come on mjx, Just slow it down !!

I have become accustomed to a very small percentage of people making unfounded accusations like this. I usually don't respond to slander, and I never delete comments unless racial slurs are used or when people just spam the comments with links and unnecessary stuff. Sometimes I leave the slurs though. I will also leave this slander up as well.

Oh and by the way, KZbin has an algorithm that weeds out offensive comments automatically, so if some of your bad comments don't show up when you post them on people's channels, that's probably why. Blame KZbin if you're looking for someone to blame there.

Sorry for the bad review they seem to be nice. I got a bad one but I want a new one to at least fly. I had 28 years of tattooing people from around the world. With a hurt back! Got surgery was fine. So I was young, we built the stuff we ran, there was not know RTR. We did it all. I flew choppers, I weld, stick, tight, mig, I'm a mill right I have a 1934 mill I fixed and run, I own a plotter and was selling windows all the time.
