MK-17 1.48 c.c diesel with ENYA .09 R/C carburettor fitted

The engine shown is fitted with an ENYA R/C carburettor. The 8 x 4 nylon propeller is supplied with the engine.
The MK-17 was not designed to be used with an R/C throttle. It does not idle at low RPM like some of my other R/C throttle equipped diesels.
However, it transitions just fine, as can be seen in this video.
Fuel composition:
1. Di-ethyl Ether 35%
2. F-34 AVTUR 38.5%
3. Castor Oil 25%
4. 2-ethyl hexyl nitrate 1.5%

The MK-17 engine is an underrated model engine. It was the first engine of many Eastern European modelers. Yes, it was a made in USSR product with Soviet quality workmanship, but it started well and was easy to adjust. It certainly wasn't a bad engine. I miss such an engine today.

Runs pretty nice!Usually the diesel carb have a much smaler throat than a glow.If used from a 1cc glow,it shoud go down with revs even more..but its not bad at al right now.The top rpm is even higher than with the org. ventury..peaks nicely! Thumbs up!! :-D

Amazing throttle response considering the glow venturi would be larger than optimum one would think.Revs well too Maybe rear induction helps as my ED Super Fury throttled reasonably on the basic RC carb fitted to the backplate.

It would probably quit on prolonged idle. I can make my piston port and front rotary port diesel engines idle but I have less success with rear disc valve intake engines.

It is an ENYA .09 TV throttle. They can be sourced from vendors on Ebay.

To match the carburetor inlet with the crankcase, have you widened the crankcase or have you reduced the diameter of the carburetor?

No machining required. I had to use a 5mm machine screw with lock nut to hold the carb neck in place in the intake.
