I think what you said about tie MK1 and the new MK movie feels right. It'd be a good publicity move. Take me as an example. I'm a Street Fighter 6 player, but I bought MK1 because of Homelander and Omni Man because I really like the TV show the Boys and the cartoon Invincible. So, there's a huge chance that someone will watch the new MK movie and decide that they have to buy the MK1 game because they liked the movie, or some character from the Movie in the game.

I've been saying that for the longest time kameo characters need to be playable through multiple dlc packs and dismantle the kameo system all together and bring in 1v1 and stage fatalities for kp3 along with more mk characters and guest

Rushing a release could result in lots of bugs etc. The more the features , the more end users have to pay for products and the more time the dev team needs to spend in developing the game. One wrong move in adding features can bring the whole thing crashing down in bugs or glitches .

I have a love/hate relationship with leaks. I read movie synopses all the time to movies i havent seen. But its crazy that the mk community relies SO effing much on leaks to love vicariously. Why can't any of us just be happy with waiting for what nrs reveals themselves? We wouldn't be in this sad situation right now.

This whole thing is crazy but I can kind of piece a few things together since this feels a lot like Dead by Daylight. DBD had a pretty bad leak problem where stuff that was being planned that they did not want coming out, ended up being leaked by an "insider" so to weed them out, they put out a report saying Leatherface was being removed from the game due to x reasons and the community was going crazy, the leaker then put out info that was simply not true, they were able to find out who it was and they handled it from there. This kind of feels like that too but I'm sure there are some things that are accurate, like Khaos Reigns not selling as well as they'd hoped. We have no real sales numbers but the fact it's been relatively quiet on that front says a lot and there's reasons in itself why it didn't sell well, at least initially and nobody from the team can confirm nor deny anything since they're still within the marketing period of Khaos Reigns and are waiting to discuss the next 2 DLC fighters. The timing of all of this is suspect too, doing it right before Thanksgiving where everyone is gone from the office for the weekend so nobody could really control that narrative.

I wanted to add something: Leatherface was in the Texas chainsaw game and because of that game BHVR had some issues with the license holder itself. They renewed the contract under new conditions with kim henkel and basically fixed the issues in some weeks, but at the same times when the player test build came up for the upcoming mid-chapter they changed the perk names to "alt name" and they told a lot of employees to change the name due to the "loss" of the license. The insider ate that up and leaked everything and due to the new perk names people believed that and BHVR had the leaker exactly there where they want him to be. So the leaks were partially true that they lost the license for Leatherface due to the texas chainsaw game, but they renewed the contract in a short time without anyone telling this to others to get to find out who the leaker was.

I’m just going to wait for a OFFICIAL announcement and that’s gonna be until what march? If the next dlc is gonna be Conan or the T1000 they’re gonna drop in like January and if they follow the two month period we’ll have to wait until march to get something official from them after the last dlc character drops or maybe they’ll reveal kp3 just like they revealed khaos reigns with takeda on the same day or like two days later but anyways to be honest all I need is Kabal or Stryker I remembered asking Scotty’s eight ball for kabal and he said most likely so hey! The current character select screen looks like could fit 3 more characters. I know they can remake it to fit more characters, but it seems odd enough that they left that way. It seems like it was on purpose. Like, Kombat 3 would be shorter with 3 characters only but with more Kameo characters. One thing I notice about Kameos (cause Im new to this game) is that they are not part of the story. When I saw the trailer for this game I got the idea that kameos would be part of the story even though they aren't playable.

Hey there Data good morning, I feel you it’s valid but we from a bygone era of unlocking things in-game. Personally I felt Klassic skins should be tied to how much you play a character. Example play Kitana for 1,000 hours unlock her MK2 skin. The issue with this plenty young bloods would say hell no to that. Also NRS/WB would potentially lose sales from the premium store if you could earn them. On the bright side we aren’t the worst in-app cosmetic store, that honor goes to SF6 and DOA too. Plenty just love throwing mud to MK1 meanwhile other fighters also have battle passes, ironic. 💯

Invasions needs to be replaced with the Towers from 11, characters need new moves and new combos, give us an extra mode again (Kart would go crazy), stop forcing guest characters. Most people I'm sure would choose legacy characters over guests. I miss Jax personally, still no Shokan

I feel this. I don't care for Cole and felt he was unnecessary. It could've been an established character, or create someone else 🤷‍♂️ i appreciate they used him from the series, but for the movie it didn't sit right. When he got the armor I thought why couldn't this have been Taven. Also Goro getting telephoned to a barn lol. I love MK and ill always check the movies out but yeah, Cole wasn't for me. I expect part of the numbers disparity on Steam between 11 and 1 is down to price. I picked up 11 for next to nothing even if access to the servers was broken until some scripts were applied. It’s like they can’t help but self-sabotage their products. I know the whole 11 vs 1 is a thing but you can only speak as you find and I have to say I prefer MK1. I bought MK11 years ago and it just left me cold if I’m honest. I’m no hardcore MK player but I’m old enough to remember the original arcade cabinets arriving and the attract music pumping over the din of competing machines. That was ‘the’ event that each product tries to emulate but it’ll never be topped. Anyways, I picked up 11 twice on PS4, then PS5 and now on Steam but after less than 100 hours I’ve wandered back to KoF because it never grabbed me like the original did. MK1 though gave me the feels of seeing the original machine all those decades ago. I kind of bailed on the home versions when things went 3D as I’m a 2D purist at heart. So side stepping the ‘toxic positivity’ accusations I have to say I’ve mostly enjoyed my 300 hours playing it since August. I was tempted to buy on launch but the failed attempts to get into MK11 stayed my credit card. The Khaos Reigns expansion was too expensive. Effectively it was more expensive than the game I just bought which immediately made no sense financially. Last month they dropped the price by 40% so I picked it up. The story was ok I thought, at least as far as video game plots go it was competent and clearly showed itself to be the ‘difficult’ middle bridge between two episodes where all the loose ends leave questions rather than answers. Think The Two Towers or Empire Strikes Back. Everyone is unhappy, nothing is resolved, everything is to play for. Here I also have to say I thoroughly loved the sassy new Sektor character, she rides the friend or foe plot exceptionally well. As for a KP3, well I’ll see what happens from the sideline. Your point about the movie is a good one as the time to exploit it is on release not a year after release. Either plans are well advanced or like Fallout a major financial opportunity is missed completely. So, come October ‘25 it is either MK2 coinciding with the film release or it is MK2 dlc either bundled with the story expansion or without. WB are notorious for wrong moves but surely no one there can ignore the movie tie-in impact on game sales!?! Would I buy a KP3? Yes. Would I buy a KP3 at the price point Khaos Reigns launched? No. Would I buy MK2 the game? If it sticks close to MK1 then yes, a return to 11 then not until it is on budget release. I still want a Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet though. That attract music just evokes soooooo many memories. Halcyon days they were of which MK1 remind me.

@@herdarkshadow834 Outstanding comment. I haven't checked a lot to be fair, and the times are usually at night when I've compared 1 & 11. Also I much prefer MK1 over MK11. I can see sales making a difference, because a few times I've seen it listed for ten bucks (I believe without aftermath). However its still very cheap, so very accessible and has years of time to accumulate versus MKX who didn't get a story expansion game to compare like this one. I appreciate you pointing out and sharing. Also I rotate some of my favorite MK tracks routinely in my videos and you're the first one to call attract out and that is awesome to see. I love the 3D era. One day I'd love the cabinets in my game room too ✊

The question is.. who really wants more MK1? The game's been a cashgrab since day one and nrs deserve every bit of criticism they're getting and then some. Whether they pinch out kp3 or not doesn't matter at this point, the game wont be fondly remembered. It's obvious they're looking to cut and run.
