well, the seats stayed in... when i was a lad, mk2 escorts used the rule-of-nine for their tappets [kent], + fiesta [valencia] used the on-the rock . tappets were set 4 thou loose for their first startup, + after half hour running, [stationary, with frequent gentle rev-ups], heads re-torqued, tappets set properly, then gentle run out. it wasnt till stretch head bolts came out that retorquing was put away [cvh] that car does look nice...

So chuffed for you guys! Great to see it running right. I was amazed the first time I had carbs set up on a rolling road. I used to take my Mini to Sam Griffiths (very sadly RIP) who was just down the road from you guys in Suckley; he got +15-20bhp out of something that had already been set up by a very decent mechanic with a gas analyser. Cheers for another great video

Fantastic!! first time ive ever seen a full explanation of how a dyno run works and what is needed to improve numbers, thanks for the lesson fella's , I'm sure there are 15 more horses to go after, engine sounded sweet. Cheers
@gordowg1wg1452 жыл бұрын
Good vid', got a soft spot for the old FORDs, even though I'm a Chevette chap. minor correction, it's (swept volume + unswept)/unswept, so the swept would be 8.75 times the combustion chamber volume with a 9.75 : 1 compression ratio. It gets confusing with the Heron/bowl in piston design, and even worse if you do the milled LOTUS piston conversion where the piston top is flat and the "combustion chamber" is formed by having the piston deck clearance much higher than normal, but the equation is still the same. I don't know if this is still done as, while it gives excellent breathing for power, the lack of quench means the fuel-air mixing is terrible at part throttle and/or lower rpm. Least ways, with carbies is is, with the improved atomisation of injection, it may be less of an issue. For the engine spec', that's a very good output - reminds me of the old thing with every 'modified' Kend having "135 hp".

Hello both, I had a very similar set up back in 1974 using an eight valve cross flow head but with only a twin-choke down draft Weber and a fast road “yellow” Piper Cam. Even before the tune you can see the rear brake caliper changing position under load because the torque load through the axle is twisting the leaf springs, more power will mean you'll need to tune the suspension too.
