Its thats gearbox and the bouncy go-cart sensation that makes the mini so special. No need for a stereo, just wizz along listening to that lovely car.

In 1977 I took over my mum's 1964 Austin 850 Mini. I was a right little maniac and it's still the most fun car I've ever driven. This brought back many memories, so thanks for that.

Had one back in 1970 ( 850 with starter button on the floor ). Same here wish I had that car now. Drove that little car hard. Loved it !

I remember Dad getting his. We thought it was the "bees knees" of luxurious driving! Was a beautiful car, cherry red. CNW672C. (Yes, your driving is a bit ropey! Never mind thanks for sharing.)!

The MINI is a cute and fun car, isn't it? I am riding a MINI in Japan. I liked to see other people's MINI and visited.

Looking at the dash, gear stick, floor starter and colour (Farina Grey ?), reminds me of my first Mini, 1959 Austin Seven -676 AYU - bought it in 1967. It was damaged in the front, spent the summer fixing it, sold it to a mate. Never saw it again. I often wonder if it is still around. I owned several after, moved away to V8’s, came back to MINIS in the early 2000’s, driving a GP2 for fun & a Countryman as a daily. Thanks for sharing.

Nice. Happened upon this video by chance; too me back about a decade- that's one of my favorite driving roads. Miss it, moved out to the USA! Plenty of good routes to take up there, left in Charterhouse and down to Shipham, left through Cheddar, left again and up the quarry road in Westbury. Nice view at the top, then in through to Priddy, across and onto the old Bath road down into Wells, round town and back up the A38 to Green Ore, left at the light, round and down the road to Compton Martin... Fun times. The Combe was more fun before they widened and flattened it though! Couldn't help but mutter "second gear" up the hill towards the observatory though...

Fun drive! I have an Mk.1 Austin 850 that I want to add a gauge cluster to. I like the way yours is set up. I've been to England twice and had a blast driving around the country side on the little roads.

Just a quick one, not sure if it's a mistake or how you like it but the switch panel on the lower dash should be located behind ,not on the front. Nice car though 👍

Excellent. Very reminiscent of how I used to drive my Mk1. Standard brakes etc?
@Harrymoore638 жыл бұрын
+Gary Davies Hi Gary, thanks for the comment! As for the Brakes, I'm on superfins all around, so not quite standard but still on drums. The car itself is still the 850, however running on a slightly bigger carb, no air filter (I just like the noise too much) and rc40 exhaust system. Also set up on Kony shocks all round and A008 yoko's!
@gsdavies1008 жыл бұрын
+Harry Moore Excellent! My Mk1 is staying on it's single leading shoes with a set of non spacered Minifins up the front. The 850 won't be going back in, a hotted up 1100 is going in it's place. Owned my 1961 since I was 19 (wrong side of 40 now..) and this is a great reminder of how I used to treat mine!
@Harrymoore638 жыл бұрын
+Gary Davies I've been toying with idea of dropping a larger block in for a while now, or developing the 850 into a little screamer. The issue is that I enjoy it so much I don't want to take it of the road for any work!
