Yes you did the right thing with the headliner. As a former upholster I have seen people attempt such work with pretty bad results. Viewing from a small screen that material looks like hessian, they will have put it on to help stop vibration. Personally I would've had the sun visors done as well but they look OK . I know this sounds obvious but the sun does bleach the material and degrades it. Thanks for sharing this video, will be looking forward to the next adventure. 👍
@classicminidetails88872 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stephen, yes the sun visors are slightly lighter than the headliner!

I'm with you on getting the professionals to trim the headlining because like you I reckon I'd have made a complete pigs ear of that job. I never knew that the earlier ones came in 2 pieces, I thought it was all bars and folding fabric, live and learn.

Yes early minis are really simple compared to Mk3 onwards cars

Great video, that headlining looks great! I'd have to also get the professionals to help me with it though, I'm useless with things like headlining haha!👍👍

Hi those sun visors are used on my Aussie mk 1 Cooper S. Mine were missing so I had to order a pair from somerford minis. They still have them available new. They were only used for approximately twelve months 64-65.

This, and the discount will be my inspiration yo finally retrieve the headlining in my mk2, which has never been out!! The felt on the frame looks like the stuff plumbers use on pipes that are going in a screed floor, I presume it's to stop it vibrating on the roof panel....

I would have loved to have seen how Newtons fit the headliner to the frame. I’m in the process of fitting one of their kits to my Mk1. I’ve done everything on the car myself so it would have been great to get some tips. Great content as usual though 👍

Just one point that’s been bothering me, shouldn’t the window catches be metal on the Mk1?
@classicminidetails88872 жыл бұрын
They changed them to plastic around 64 so only early ones have those

Right. I had a 1961 Mini Pickup (as my first car in about 1968)…..followed by a 1963 Mini Cooper 997cc. Both had the metal catches.
