It plays into movies/stories where someone was meant to die at a certain time, but no matter how they tried to avoid it, it still came. I wish I could remember the titles of them, but I've seen various ones where a guy tried to avoid his death from a common occurrence (i think a car crash or something ordinary), but ends up causing more death before his own still comes and he dies differently each time, but the result is the same. He dies and can't prevent it. So, on his final chance, he just says goodbye and accepts his fate, this time, smiling.

He does it but immediately goes back to being an assassin and then works for Shang Tsung to eliminate Earthrealm warriors, so again he was never depicted as a good guy he was depicted as a redeemable bad guy at best but otherwise just another bad guy that was first to get killed. This Bi Han doesn’t even have a complete story we don’t even know for sure if he’s gonna have a redemption arc or not

5:30 Is one of my favorite moments for Shao. You can see behind his mask his face is one of horrored realization of what Sindel told him. He realized that his actions essentially dishonored his family name and the kingdom he served and protected. I’m pretty sure he had a wave of regret right at this moment, but he was too far gone to take it all back. I really hope that in a future DLC or MK2, Shao gets some sort of redemption, since he was pretty promising half of the time.

Liu and Geras did discuss it in the game. They saw Shang talk with Kronika, but Geras and Liu are confused since Titans (like kronika) cannot revive after death under any circumstances. They are said to permanently vanish. Liu brought up it being Kronika possibly and Geras also saw it made sense to conclude that, but Geras deemed it impossible so they assume it is someone else from the prior timeline. SPOILERS They were right. Kronika was never back and it was the Shang of the prior timeline! He just used her image to draw suspicion away from himself.
