That's actually a great point. After the story mission, Liu Kang just...let Bi-Han go. We know Shao, Reiko, Shang, and Quan Chi were all imprisoned, but nothing at all like that for Subzero. Which makes his grudge against Liu Kang all the more bizarre. I mean ffs, Subzero himself tried to kill Tomas and Kuai for "betraying" him.

@@Excalibur_777 Except I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, though. Bi-Han is just somehow maintaining his old status quo, except he's moved himself mostly into his Noob Saibot persona. I like how the new timeline has brought some redemption and/or sympathy to characters such as Baraka, Reptile, Sindel, Mileena, and Tanya, who were previously either one-dimensional, jobbers, or just evil; and that's nice. What is ALSO nice is seeing, despite different and humbling circumstances, some characters just will NOT change. Shang Tsung is still a snake, Shao still has a warlord mindset, and Bi-Han still lets his asshole personality be manipulated. To see Bi-Han and Kuai Liang get along would be great, but it's wouldn't be Mortal Kombat if everything is cheery, would it?

It's more so that Reiko'a loyalty to General Shao was forged in combat. I mean Shao betrays Queen Sindel and Reikoby omission is doing the same. This game assassinated his character. Bi-Han has only ever been a villain when he was Noob. His MK1 ending ties in with Mythologies. Him seeking retirement after Raiden told him his soul is corrupted implies that he listened to Raiden. The entire reason he was so shocked that his soul was tainted was because being an assassin is all he’s ever known. He’s been taught to kill since he was a child. He thought what he was doing was honourable & the right thing to do. Noob Saibot is corrupted. A bunch of games like Armageddon & Deception says so. Before someone says it, wraiths are corrupted. Wraiths have their thoughts twisted & have all the compassion & humanity stripped from them. If that’s not corruption I don’t know what is at this point. The new games point out that he’s a slave to Quan Chi. And before someone says Kuai has always been a hero. If thats so why was he at the tournament planning to assassinate someone. Truly a pinnacle of morality. In fact, he doesn’t give two fucks about killing people until the clan betrays him & he has to run away. But I guess because he spared someone, he’s a good guy🗿. Also, Kuai sparing someone is not a difference between the brothers considering that Sareena’s existence in later games is because Bi-Han chose to spare her.

Also I would like to add that narratively it doesn’t make sense to have Bi-Han be this bad in life. The stark difference in Noob is what makes Bi-Han’s downfall tragic. He sought to leave the clan & redeem himself but he looked for this far too late. His mistakes caught up with him & he was corrupted into everything he feared in life.
